zagor
I am curious to see whether Apple will continue to allow Kindle app run on Ipad as they do on Iphone. It kind of creates a weird situation. It basically reproduces a core functionality. And, you might end up with two different ebook prices on ibook and kindle store.
osirisX
iBooks is not core functionality. It's an App Store app (Which you have to download to use, like Remote or iDisk). Therefore Amazon wont be duplicating functionality. In regards to the different prices for eBooks, I'm sure users would actually like to have more than one store to shop from. Chasethebase Reporter Posted February 4, 2010 Reporter Share Posted February 4, 2010 Surely the same applies for applications such as Classics. Which is now free. Should be fine to be honest.
Smigit
iBooks is not core functionality. It's an App Store app (Which you have to download to use, like Remote or iDisk). I'm going to throw out a guess that it will be preinstalled on the iPad. That said I think Kindle will be ok. In all honesty if they start removing apps after accepting them for duplicate functionality I'm sure they will soon find themselves being sued for unfair practices in at least some country...irrespective of what their licensing terms may state. It seems a rocky road that they'd probably be best avoiding.
Shadrack
My guess is that they will probably allow it because it already exists for the iPhone. And, as Smigit pointed out, they will likely get sued if they don't allow it. If it had not already existed, then I'm not sure... iBooks is not core functionality. The way Jobs talked about it, it seems like "core" functionality to me. It sounded to me like they are marketing the iPad as an eBook Reader++. osirisX
I'll repeat, iBooks is not core functionality like Phone.app is on the iPhone. It's a value-add feature like Remote.app. Apple even says you will have to download it. The other hint? iBooks is not present on the first home screen in ANY promo shot of the iPad and there is plenty of room for it ;) Straight from Apple themselves
morphen
my guess? not without pressure from some kind of authority. but who knows :)
what
Why don't you ask Apple and find out?
