  1. 1. Should Politics be banned for dicussion on Neowin?

For the past year I have personally seen more political threads than I would expect to see on a tech board. A few here and there no problem, but that is not the case. Most of these are copy and paste jobs and its almost always the same arguments.

IMO take the politics off Neowin. It really does not benefit boards at all expect ad money.

Don't ban political discussion, if you arent allowed to talk about it, someone will always end up becoming an extremist over something. We need less extremism, and more information. Banning wont solve any of that, and while the same things are repeated throughout most threads, anyone with half a brain can spot an opinionated post from a factual one.

I've got my own personal preferences, as do we all. I wouldn't lose any sleep if we didn't have a Sports section, but I'm not about to suggest others can't enjoy it.

That's something I've always like about Neowin, on the surface we're a tech community, we all share that. But we cater to so many different interests and types of people. I believe that's what makes this a great community.

Yes, it's only fair that politics should be banned: the other contentious topic of religion is also banned and religious threads get merged in to one big one. If we're going to be squemish and ban a topic, we should be ready to start banning similar ones.

Good point.

Helll no, you should never stifle debate.

If you don't like the politics/religious section then simply ignore that section.

I think debate is healthy, it is progress and it is good.

Neowin is far bigger than 'just a tech forum' and political discussions are a part of it, as are Formula One threads, Rappy's wallpapers threads and J&FS.

So, no, please, keep the political discussion.

There is a simple choice:

If you don't like it, then don't go in the forum :)

I don't have a need for the Apple or Linux forums, so I just ignore them :D

Hold on, what has Linux ever done to you?! :D

It should not be banned, its a very simple logic that i use to get through the forum. If you don't like whats posted than don't bother contributing to it because you only going to make it worst. One of the major problems human race has is that, a lot of people don't have the ability to respect someone's else opinion.

It's more a problem with opinionation on the internet. The threads usually move from debates to mud slinging of opinions. Politics shouldn't be banned, at least by news articles. But when it becomes blatant flamebait biased material either way (left or right as it's said) especially in relation to American politics, it's no different to the hijacking and ruining of technology related threads with fanboyism flamebait.
