DrunknMunky Veteran Posted February 25, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 25, 2010 I've been playing it and I agree with Yahtzee on a gameplay level, but the story in Dante's Inferno is frickin' epic. I've already watched the movie on the divine comedy & plan to read it because of the game.

I think it starts out with promise, but once you get passed gluttony, it really drags, and then ties up a little too conveniently.
gigapixels Veteran Posted February 25, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 25, 2010 The only part I didn't like was fraud with its 10 challenges... I just wanted to get moving. Otherwise, I have no complaints about the game.
metal_dragen Veteran Posted February 26, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 26, 2010 I just picked this up this week and am up to the beginning of Fraud. So far it's been fun - nothing special as far as gameplay, but the story is very good so far. Not too impressed with the action to be honest - it just seems like there aren't nearly as many combos and special moves as one would expect from a hack-n-slash. I'm playing my first playthrough as Holy and will probably play again as Unholy just to experience punishing everyone.

You'll actually be able to play through again with all your upgrades from the first playthrough. I went Unholy the first time and was able to get to level 3 of Holy before the game was done. It's quite nice to have a fully upgraded line before you even start.
metal_dragen Veteran Posted March 2, 2010 Veteran Share Posted March 2, 2010 I just finished my first playthrough on Holy. And yea, I was able to get to level three Unholy before I finished. It should be fun to start with my upgrades I've already got. The game seems a bit on the short side - I think my final time was just shy of 8 hours, but I only found about half of the relics and Damned, so there's more to go there. Plus I've got the Arena unlocked now. Still it was worth the money and is a very well done game. Looking forward to the sequel - looks like it could get interesting... Pheee
I actually enjoyed this game, and will pick up the DLC, and will start a second play through. I may get my first platinum with this one :p
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted March 4, 2010 Veteran Share Posted March 4, 2010 Yup, it's definitely a good game and an even better story
Vortex566
I finished it tonight, overall I was rather disappointed. I was really hopeful about it as well, but it lacks something that I just can not put my finger on. I like the art style and the way they handled each circle. The game really captured the feeling of the poem in how each level looked. I found the last boss to be a complete chore, as I had not gone down the unholy route. One other aspect which really did annoy me was the amount of instant kills in the game. Overall the game delivers a solid experience, but is no God of War beater.
