How big is your registry?

Recommended Posts

Just wondered this as a spawn off teh other thread, mines 94MB, to find this I ran regedit form run and clicked file>export and saved to desktop the reg file.

Seems about normal size?

People with 40mb (or more) of reg files... do you notice the performance decrease?

EDIT: Because I used to have a huge reg and my PC ground to a halt. I'm just wondering how you can cope with that!

Well My dads 1.2GHz setup i built just yesterday running XP pro has pagefile of

But im betting mine sso huge becaus eof the amount of files/programs i have installed.

This install is of course over 1.5 years old and has seen many hardware configs, still running nice but I get a wee bit more disk usage as it fumbles around teh registry.

I might just do a fresh install after bcking everything up over LAN though.

Take a look at what a discovered:

My registry was 69.2MB

I tried to compact it with WinRar and it turned to 2.98MB!!!!!!!!!!!

There must be a lot of unsed space there on the real file

well the reg file is just text hence why it compresses so well, its like a bitmap image, you can compress a 2.5mb BMP to about 300KB
