Brodel
Hi, I don't have a mac yet but am looking at getting a Macbook Pro once the next updated ones come out. One thing I find really handy in Windows is being able to use Digsby to notify me if I get any emails in my Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail accounts. It sits quietly next to the clock with nice icons for each mailbox which light up when a new email arrives and pops up with the subject and sender, you can also mark it as read or delete it etc from the notification. I realise that Digsby is in development of OS X but it is not out yet, I've also seen quite a few different apps for checking individual accounts but not one app that will check all. Are there any that are out now that I could use to simply check all accounts at once?Or is there one already built in to the OS?
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted February 8, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted February 8, 2010 How about Mail.app? Its built in, it supports POP3, IMAP and MSE2007.. and maybe some other stuff. It will just make a sound and a badge appears on the icon with a number telling you how many new emails you have. It's one of my favourite things about Mac OS X. I think there's a plugin to make it use Growl and pop up a notification.
Xerxes
I think there's a plugin to make it use Growl and pop up a notification. Yes, it's called GrowlMail. It's a bit old but should work fine, I'll give it try in the Mail app on Snow Leopard tonight when I get home.

PL_ Veteran Posted February 10, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 10, 2010 Mail.app works with Hotmail a bit...problem is Hotmail still uses POP3 for some reason instead of IMAP, so it'll mark new messages as unread even if you've read them elsewhere. Brodel
Thanks for the replies everyone. It's a shame that there isn't really a simple solution, I guess I can start getting my hotmail emails forwarded to my gmail account. I was just trying to avoid it if possible that's all. :)

That's the problem, I want something that will either just notify me or something that will sync Webmail Notifier on FF works great but I just switched to Chrome and it doesn't have an extension like that :(
Brodel
This looks like it would do the job. I prefer free products, but at $20 it's not too expensive. It has a trial too for anyone interested in trying it, as I don't have a mac yet it's not possible for me. http://fluentfactory.com/mboxmail-for-mac/
