Nicholas-c Veteran Posted February 8, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 8, 2010 Hey guys, I have an original launch PS3 and i kinda rarely use it, turned it on today and there is no video, worked fine when i hooked everything up when i had my av receiver a few months ago and i have used it a few times since. if i have ps3 -> av receiver -> tv i get sound via optical and no video. i have done the reset trick involving the power button. i have even connected ps3 -> tv directly via hdmi and no signal again. Time to phone sony and beg? Thanks Nicholas-c

Nicholas-c Veteran Posted February 8, 2010 Author Veteran Share Posted February 8, 2010 If you hold the power/reset button there is 3 things mine does. 1st beep = power on ~5seconds later = 2nd beep = reset video settings ~another 5 seconds = 3rd beep = power off

I threw away my standard video cables ages ago "Oh, I don't need these". I will contact some mates and see if they have any lying around.
Pablo2008jedi
Did you do the reset when you hooked up the HDMI cable to your TV (and put the TV on the correct channel)?
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 8, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted February 8, 2010 Get a hold of the old composite cables. Also try booting without the hard drive in for me.

pisty
do the reseting trick twice once with the HDMI and once with the AV and i know it might not work but try buying or borrowing a component cable from a friend if your tv has HDMI it must have component for sure
Nicholas-c Veteran Posted February 9, 2010 Author Veteran Share Posted February 9, 2010 Nothing seems to be working, I have tried hdmi and composite cables directly to TV with no luck. Both cables with and without the HDD to no luck again. ekk?

Sikh
Its time for you to call sony and beg. 2 Of my friends had the same issue. One was no video, other one was no HDD at all. Weird but happened just recently, said "Could not detect drive". I poped in a another 2.5". I formatted it before I poped it in the ps3, same thing. It was the system. Ironically it was a 60gig. Idk what happened yet because he called them today but ill let you know what the results end up being
