A Question About The PS3 games resolution

Recommended Posts

hey guys

i was wondering if it says on the back of a ps3 game that it only runs in 720p you know what i mean?

is there a way to make it run in 1080i or 1080p?

if so is it better or is the default of the game better?

and what is the difference between 1080i and 1080p?

The games do say what resolution they play at, although recently a lot of games have been upscaling their resolution and still passing it off as 1080p, which it is not.

Most PS3 games run at 720p, many of the little platformer games from the PS Store run at 1080p, and there are a few games that do too such as Metal Gear Solid 4.

I'm sure AB will come in since I'm sure he knows, but in your display settings, if you untick everything but 1080p then it forces games to play in it.

Though whatever is displayed on the back is best as that is what the game was designed around in the end.

yeah but some games run in lower resolution which is 480p or 480i i think instead of going to 1080p right?

Correct, that means the game runs at 720p natively.

There are some games that do run 1080p natively.

Xbox360 have a lot o f"native" resolution games @ 720p, but the 360 upscale them to 1080p.

There been numerous requests on playstation forums to get sony to make an update that would upscaling them to 1080.

There augments about how 720p native vs 1080p "upscaled" and which is better / worse.
