There Will Be No Install For Final Final XIII PS3

Many PS3 titles have forced owners of the console to install countless GB of content unto the hard drive, this eats up precious space and some gamers just don't like the long periods before the process is complete. Many have concluded that a game as huge as Final Fantasy XIII must demand an install unto the PS3's hard drive. They're wrong, there's good news. In a recent interview with the EU PS Blog, the question was posed to the two masterminds behind Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII, asking whether or not there'll be a need for it.

"There will be no installation, the game runs directly from the disc."

"Final Fantasy Versus XIII is part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series, but XIII and Versus XIII only share the same basic mythology. The fal'Cie and l'Cie are just a small part of this mythology, but the story and the characters are completely different."

I personally am excited about both games, and since Final Fantasy XIII will be available first, my focus is dead set on it.

Are you planning on purchasing FFXIII? Share your thoughts.

Yeah I think MGS4 was the last one I bought with a big install. I think some of the new games install something but nothing that big.

The only two games I have that needed installs were the first Assassin's Creed and Red Faction. The effect for both was apparently bugger all as they still took forever to load.

I can't help but feel as though we're going back in some respects -- the other day I decided to watch Inglorious Basterds on blu-ray only to have to sit and watch a loading screen!

I never got a chance to play the Japanese demo. So, I'm wondering if this plays similar to Final Fantasy XII. The last one had a pretty mixed reception. I recently started playing it (finally opened my copy of it), and I have been playing it nonstop (well, need to stop for work and sleep). Loving the story of that game (lots of drama like the story in Final Fantasy Tactics). But the combat and exploration of the game are really nice as well. It feels like you're playing an open world MMO, sort of. If this game is going to be anything like that, it's a must buy for me.
