EmuZombie Veteran Posted February 9, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 9, 2010 I recently made the jump (plunge?) into World of Warcraft. I'm attempting to make it compatible with my gaming style by running it in a borderless full screen window that does not cover up the windows task bar. I would like to run the windows at resolution of 1280x730. On this PC my resolution is 1280x768 (max the monitor can handle) why do I want to run a window in 1280x730 then? Well, the windows 7 task bar is 38 pixels high. By aligning the window to the top of the screen, I'm able to have a complete view of the task bar, including the most important thing of all, the clock. Since this is close to 16:9 ratio, the very little stretching that does occur is unnoticeable (1280x720 is 16:9, so its only 10 pixels). The result looks like this: (shown from TF2) Is this possible with World of Warcraft?
Sethos
Have you tried this - It's basically an option tied to "Windowed mode"
ylcard
You do know that there's an in-game clock ? Although I respect the multitasking ambitions of yours :)
dead.cell
Yeah, full screen should be fine since WoW has a clock just under the minimap. Should show local time. Secondly, sometimes the Windowed mode with Maximize checked covers up my taskbar anyway. Only difference for me is that it makes it faster to alt-tab. I'm on XP though, so I'm not sure if that still relates at all. I usually play in Windowed mode and just double click the title bar, which maximizes it and keeps the taskbar shown. Works best for me at least, but I'm not sure that it "hides" the borders. Either way, it's something to try if anything. -shrug-
Minifig
Yeah, full screen should be fine since WoW has a clock just under the minimap. Should show local time. It doesn't until you click it and configure it to, but yeah, it does show local time.
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted February 10, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted February 10, 2010 He doesn't just want to see the clock - he wants to see the rest of it too. He just highlighted that particular point. Anyway, the method above answers your problem, but I'm fairly sure your window will be fixed in the absolute centre of the screen, so the taskbar will always overlap unless you choose a smaller resolution. ylcard
Since my account is in cryogenic state since.. eh I don't even remember, point is that I can't check :p But a quick google search turned up Maximizer, apparently it's an application made for WoW, to allow you everything you talked about. Try it, tell us how goes.
