dL
I've got a SMC Wireless Adapter (2662W) ... I'm planning to switch it to a Linksys wireless adapter, but I have a wireless router on top with cable connected with it. Can a Linksys adapter connect to a SMC router or not? kombolcha
i think it can... i have a D-link router and a netgear access point. i have tried connecting with the dlink usb device (currently using it) and i have also tried this really cool thing, it looks like a keychain, but it's also from netgear.. you pop it in USB port and it searches for a wireless access and it works. MR_Candyman
yes it can...I got linksys as my router and wireless cards, but I go to friends who have d-link or smc, always works
Roger H. Veteran Posted June 23, 2003 Veteran Share Posted June 23, 2003 that's the point of the Wi-Fi logo... if it has that on it then it doesn't matter who it's from it'll work with any other company's device since it's passed wi-fi testing (for interoperatibility) 99% of the devices out there work with each other unless you go to 802.11G which is just certified and therefore the new (or updated) products aren't on the market yet so you'll get the old stuff still that has no guarantee to work with any other manufacturer's devices but it will work with the same...
