Hi,

You might want to check www.xbox.com/live/ as it has all the answers to your questions and probably all your other questions you will have after reading the answers to your questions :p

Anyway...

I had XBL for about 4 months but recently sold my XBOX so I had to cancel my XBL account.

You have to buy the XBL Kit which is a CD with the software (and 2 game demos) and the headset so you can speak/hear other players.

Your first year is paid for in the cost of the kit, the second year you will just pay MS what they decide to charge. Obviously it can't be more than a kit is because you would just go and buy another kit :p I think it will be about ?20-40 a year (which aint that bad really).

As for where you live I have no idea, as long as you have a broadband connection and you can use ethernet nothing should stop you.

Good luck.

I've had Live since the UK beta (mmmmm) and it's brilliant. Cant wait till Friday for Midtown Madness 3 :D

Costs about ?35 for the Live kit like deadmonkey said, and you get the stuff you need to get your Xbox on Live. Well, you get everything apart from a Cable to plug into your broadband modem..... You'll have to get one yourself. But they're real cheap so it's no big deal.

From then on it's basically jut plug n play.

What can you do other than just play? You can download extra content for certain games (Missiobns for Splinter Cell, extra characters/clothes for ToeJan and Earl 3, maps and characters for Mech Assault and Unreal Championship etc.....) you have a friends list that you can add people to, see when they're online, invite them from any game into any other game you like (they get a friend/invite icon on their screen while they play, and if they choose to accept, they can stop the game they're playing, switch discs, and join the game you're in). You can give players good/bad feedback, you can change your voice, loads of cool stuff.

i can't decide if i want xbl or not...

it seems really cool, but i dont' know if i'll have the time to make it worth it.

however, plans are that prices are gonna rise for all the xbl stuff, so if you want it, get it now.

also, don't forget about xbox connect!

I got it during the beta test phase. It was pretty fun at first, but I got bored with it pretty quickly. I think it's because I never bought any games for it though. I only used the demo disc.

If you have broadband/cable modem for your computer you can get xbox live. (as long as your have an xbox!)

There are different ways to hook it all up, but you can go to xbox.com and they have tons of info on how to do that.

You have to buy an xbox live starter kit to sign up. The starter kits has the Tetris Worlds Online full game i think. Also a headset for you to use in all the Live-Enabled games. The starter kit gets you a full year of XBOX Live, but after that you have to pay i think 50 dollars. Check xbox.com for the exact pricing.

There's alot of good games out their for live already. Just to name a few......MechAssault, Unreal Championship, Midtown Madness 3, Midnight Club 2, a ton of sports games, whacked, and moto gp. There are plenty of other games. And there are more coming. Counterstrike, Halo 2, Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge, among many others.

I havn't really used my Live in a month or two but I would still say it is worth it even if its for the voice communicator thing. It works well and the games are really fun. Wolfenstein kicks alot of ass and Midtown Madness looks amazing. Its worth it if you have a job i would say because realy it just doesnt cost that much.

Ya, I was in beta too (gamertag ChaosX). Anyway, as for details, you buy the starter kit which comes with the install disc, headset (aka "the communicator"), and 1 year subscription for $50. After the first year is up, you can either pay monthly at $6.99 (last time I checked) or yearly at $49.99. I don't play too often, but when I do, it kicks ass. Definitely worth $50 and annual fee. Blows PS2 online gaming out of the water.
