User Opinions of GoDaddy.com Web Hosting

Question

Hi everyone. I'm presently with 1&1, but am a little underwhelmed with a few things about them, so I figured I would ask everyone that use GoDaddy what they think of them? So far I've heard some good things, but their plans seem to be a bit more confusing than 1&1's... So, I figured I would ask everyone what they think of their hosting and if they've had any trouble (Downtime, issues with customer support, complications getting a web site up, etc.). I need Asp.NET support, so I'll be going with a Windows hosting package, so particularly if anyone has a Windows hosting plan with GoDaddy, I would be very interested in hearing what you think of them. What do you like, what do you not like, what should I know... I'm really curious what people on here think of their service...

Thanks Again, :)

I didn't like it one bit. I had it for a year and they're service was sooooo slow. It took years to log into the website and their interface was really really confusing :s.

My recommendation - don't use GoDaddy (N).

Their web portal is confusing as hell, but the service itself I didn't have an issue with. Added to which, their telephone support has been pretty good for me when I've needed it.

I'll echo Rob's sentiments pretty much word for word - the service itself is pretty solid, but getting anything accomplished on their control panel takes a miracle.

Hm... I really appreciate the responses... I really, REALLY do...

Let me ask this then... Who does everyone recommend? Or should I start a new thread? I don't really know who's good.

Thanks Again for all of your help... :)

The only thing I don't like (I use it for work), you can only have one user per database. So you have to remember alot of different logins.

Wow, that seems rather stupid...

To be honest, GoDaddy seems to be a bit unfriendly from the usability standpoint... It's kind of a shame.

I also have used site5's reseller stuff for years and only once had an issue. They sorted it quickly and refunded me for one month :)

I have, in the past, used both 1&1 and GoDaddy hosting services and they are as bad as each other! GoDaddy has almost non-existent customer service and options. I have been hosting all my domains with stormhosts.net for over 8 years now and they are excellent with most support questions answered within 10 minuets!

I've never been hosted with GoDaddy before, but I have registered several domains with them in the past.

I didn't seem to have any problems personally.

I've just started hosting with BlueHost, and they've been great, so I strongly recommend trying them.

I currently use and highly recommend MediaLayer.com. Amazing support and fast, reliable servers. They are a bit more pricey than most hosts, but it's worth every penny.

I have also used asmallorange.com in the past and would recommend them as well. I know there are a lot of neowinians who can vouch for asmallorange as well.

I had a few problems with their web hosting such as downtimes without notice and trying to get hold of support was abit of a pain. However I've never had a problem buying domains from them and having hosting elsewhere.

Salam, I've had my experience with GoDaddy and they're are a bit too complicated to give you exactly what you need. If you want my recommendation I suggest that you get a VPS solution if possible and do with it whatever you want. It'll be a bit more expensive but then you'll be able to provide yourself with whatever you want, more over it would help you to learn more and gain more knowledge.

Kindest regards,

Thanks everyone for all of your help. I am going to contact Stormhosts.com and a few others. Stormhosts.com seemed to have a nice site, so I'll see what they have to say about some of my questions and stuff. It looks like they have Windows hosting as well, so that's good. Personally I have 1&1 right now, and I'm just not really pleased with some aspects of the hosting (And it appears GoDaddy isn't so great either).

@doodzzz, what do you mean by a VPS? What is that?

Thanks, I looked at Site5, but it looks like they don't offer Windows Hosting (Which I need for one of the sites at the moment and more to come). I'll e-mail them to confirm, but I spent a good bit of time on their site and wasn't able to find any reference to Windows hosting, or .NET, or anything like that... Am I wrong? I could have missed something, but didn't see anything. I will confirm that though.
