Alan Wake PC Canceled, Now Xbox 360 Exclusive

Recommended Posts

Seeing as how it is now a "a less ambitious, linear action-adventure game after Remedy signed on with Microsoft" crap, a single core CPU will probably run it no problems.

Its clear you dont have a clue, they used each core for something, ie one for physics, one for sound, etc.. Just because its been dumbed down for Xbox 360 doesnt mean a single core cpu would run it well.

Thread Cleaned

+2 rep to you. Thank you!

AlanWake is about to Wake, and I think most of us are excited. It's a bummer about the PC version, but I guess that is business. Consoles get some games, PCs get some games. We will take the blows as the manufacturers deal them. Or speak with your wallet!

Blame piracy for this. They delay the PC release for a few months because if they released both at the same time they'd make less money due to 360 owners just downloading it for their pc.

Any time something is canceled, delayed, or has less than stellar sales, it's always attributed to piracy.

It's common practice to do this now for that very reason. Look at Assassins Creed 2, GTA 4 and so on.

If they made more money releasing both versions at the same time, then they'd do it.

Anyone who thinks piracy doesn't have an effect on sales and ultimately isn't killing PC gaming is deluding themselves.

ah whats the dealio, no deadspace 2, no Alan Wake, poor PC :(

I think this game will be alright but probably wont do to well if people are expecting much just because its been in development for 5 years.

Wow, just wow.

I never saw this many people go for the hook, line and sinker. You do realize that the bolded statement in my post (OP) highlights a poorly veiled excuse for running out of money. They ran out of money and don't think the PC will sell well if they do a poor port version. They most probably will make a port if the game sells well on the 360.

By the way, has anyone checked out the awesome GameTrailer's review of Heavy Rain? It looks fantastic. I wish I had a PS3.

Just what I was thinking LOL :p

I think it's natural, as a small developer that remedy is, to decide to focus on the 360 version, where it'll probably sell better anyways, and then swing back for the PC version later. If we get it, and I think we will, the PC version will look even better, I expect DX11 and all the eyecandy and effects that can give us. MS has done well with having many, like 98% I'd say, of the big name games be 360 and PC, even if the PC version comes 4-6 months later.

I'm going to get it on my 360, simply because I think it looks great already, and also 42" HDTV > 22" monitor.

Ahhh, did give me a little laugh when I read it this morning. I'm surprised we don't have a "I'm ****ed, so I am posting here" thread :D

Ahaha, nice.

Anyways, here's hoping that it reaches the PC eventually. It is kinda funny to see Microsoft saying one thing and Remedy saying another. Microsoft just loves to throw their weight around it seems. It kind of sounds like Remedy wants to release a PC version and Microsoft wants it to be a 360 exclusive. If nothing else, the situation is making Microsoft seem rather overbearing.

As for myself, this was always a game that I planned on getting for the 360 anyways, so I won't be heartbroken if it never makes it to PC.
