  1. 1. What do you set your games to first time playing?

I, 85% of the time go for the easiest difficulty.

Usually I'm not looking for a challenge when I play games, I look for the immersion and the 'having fun' element and the feeling

you are superior to your enemies. That is accomplished by choosing "Easy", usually as you don't have to hide for 10 minutes

at every corner during a firefight, you don't die as soon as you lose concentration and the frustration level is kept to a minimum.

That is the best for for me to experience a game without feeling I get yanked out of the experience every 10th minute because

I died in the middle of en epic moment, had to stay in cover the entire game to not enjoy it etc.

Then when I completed it and the game was fantastic, I crank it up to maximum difficulty because I've seen the game,

know the story and know in my heart that I'll be able to enjoy the frustrating moments without throwing my controller at

the TV.

Doesn't mean that I find it difficult, as I have completed a slew of games on maximum difficulty that others have struggled with,

it's all a matter of the experience for me. Had I been looking for a challenge, I have an entire library of games I play regularly that

can give me that challenge. So I get my needs satisfied elsewhere

Although, when sequels are released to games I have completed on the highest difficulty, I tend to crank it up right away;

Mass Effect 2, Modern Warfare 2, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 etc.

Normal. I only change the difficulty setting if I want to achieve something or if I want to clear a level quickly. I usually set it to easy if I'm playing a game I already beat, so I could get to a certain level quickly.

Normal/medium. If I like the game will try to play it through again on harder difficulty.

Easy if the game becomes too frustrating, but usually only after countless retries and hours of pounding my head to the wall (won't give up that easily).

I'm a whimp :P always "Easiest" but each playthough I crank up the difficulty. I pefer to wade in rather then just jump in at the highest difficulty, that is my excuse and I'm sticking to it :P

Depends on the game. Generally speaking, I'll set it to normal for the first playthrough and then jump to the hardest for the achievements and challenge the second time through. There are a couple exceptions though - I played ME2 on Veteran the first time through for example.

Normal to enjoy the story and have some difficulty to it. I never touch easy unless I struggle.

I have mine set to the hardest, only because I want the achievements. However, the games are not enjoyable at that difficulty. I will bring it back down to medium or lower if I get frustrated enough, or I will replay the game at an easier level once I obtain the hard achievements.

I'll usually start on normal unless its a direct sequel where the mechanics have changed too much in which case I'll start on hard. I'll up the difficulty on each subsequent play through.

I put Bioshock 2 on Easy from Normal cause I was just sick of dying and quite frankly I just wanted to enjoy the game and get through it. Not only is it a rental, but my time is limited being 35 years old and married, and I am not so into it as I was last time so just want to get through it. But 95% of the time I keep games on normal, just Bioshock 2 popped up and said I might want to change difficulties, so I did.

Hey Larry, did you read my post about loading times? Imagine if we played Army of 2 40th Day on Difficult? LOL

Exactly, we put Army of 2 on Easy because it was almost a necessity because of the loading screens and cut-scenes that could not be skipped.
