+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 16, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted February 16, 2010 Wait, what? In an eagerness to spot new icons in Gran Turismo 5?s HUD (is there a weather option in the race settings box?) an odd illegal alien has been caught. An Apple Works icon. Seeing is believing. In between the Settings and Weather icons on the latest images of Gran Turismo 5?s HUD is an Apple Works icon. If this isn?t a placeholder image, what does it signify? GT5 is going to the Apple IPad? There?s Mac integeration? Sony and Apple have signed a deal to bring the PS3 racer and Mac together? Search us. You can find the evidence below, with further images in our Gran Turismo 5 screenshot gallery. Hedon
If this is a dev build, maybe Sony is using some Macs for development (which have Apple Works on them), and maybe some of the content that is getting edited (text items like menus, credits, etc) have a quick link to the app in the screen. Interesting stuff indeed.
Richard Hammond
Maybe this has nothing to do with Apple or Appleworks, maybe they just liked the icon.
Sethos
Yes, because anything related to a terrible port to an inferior hardware device or a platform that has nothing to do with gaming is ... interesting. Sorry to sound harsh but in my opinion, nothing interesting could come out of this.

Interesting stuff indeed. It could be related to the way replays are uploaded to Youtube, or somehow in the Photomode, I mean pushing 8 megapixel photo mode may have needed some help. Could definitely be in regards to the Youtube video uploading. Interesting from the point of view that it's a copyright icon and you shouldn't/wouldn't expect a mistake like this from PD, so unless it's just been asked for use which I see no real reason for (make a game of insane detail for 5 years and can't be arsed making one icon?). These builds were used for the GTAcademy finals, so I presume they would need to pass Q&A to some extent and if this was a mistake you'd of heard something from Apple for PD compiling public builds like this with their content.
