Glassed Silver
Read what happened before. (I started a new topic for this, because it's actually a new problem.) Anybody know, why my Mac won't boot the copied backup? I select "EFI boot" from the boot menu (hmmm...? not Mac OS X? or rEFIt? funny caption) but after the apple logo appears my screen is dimmed and I'm advised to restart my mac. Do I maybe have to first off setup mac os x normally so that my mac is prepared for that hdd to be a boot hdd? so then I'll just copy all data back to the hdd again over the mac os x install? thanks. :) Glassed Silver:win PS: I transfered a backed up snow leo Mac OS X install backup (diskutil) with a lower version diskutil (tiger disk that came with my mac) to the new hdd. -> not bootable
Glassed Silver
Update: Got it working! :) Just install Mac OS X normally - this will set up your mac to boot properly again (it creates a hidden - needed - partition that way) - and move your backup into the partition where you installed mac os x. boot - et voil?!
