carmatic
There is no console on the PC version IIRC. It's basically a 1:1 copy of the console versions. MW2 is not a proper PC fps game

Ash_09
For people wondering about how the console versions get hacked it's more than just modifying the firmware it's actual hardware mods that allow you to run any unsigned code on the xbox and modifying game files in the ISO before burning , and from what i've heard these JTAG consoles can be detected and banned pretty quickly but as people become more proficient in doing the mods it's easy to obtain another console and do it all over again , theres even been places where i've seen people offering these pre-modded consoles with everything you need for upwards of $300 . I can't say i've seen anywhere offering them here in the UK but it's only a matter of time , it's just a real shame this is happening and ruining the online experience for a whole load of people and as far as im aware it's not just limited to MW:2 . If any of this info is wrong or someone knows better feel free to correct me i just thought i'd try an clear things up even tho im kind of confused by it all myself . LingeringSoul
And the turnaround on that is? Also unless Valve can prove something, no banning. Ironically, the best defence against cheating in games like CS:S and DoD:S was to play in a dedicated server that had administrators present (so they could supervise the server while they played). Too bad we can't do that in this game, lol :).

Too bad we can't do that in this game, lol :). Yep, regardless of how easily glitched a game is a server with decent moderation can always take care of it. That's why things like VAC and punkbuster are nice but will never replace a moderator, it's pretty much like having a real person moderate a forum vs. having a bot do it - people will always find new ways to trick the bot. Infinity Ward was pretty much begging for this to happen when they said they were removing dedicated servers because it would make the game more secure. Duality
VAC does not take reports of hacking. It doesn't do much at all to be honest. People moan about punkbuster, but combine it with a 3rd party banlist and a decent server admin and it's just fine.
Vykranth
I am playing MW2 on Xbox 360. The game is actually much nicer ever since the Care Package Glitch has been fixed last Friday. If ever a new batch of glitches comes around, regular players will figure that out and I'll do what I have always done: report them as cheaters and wait for the patch. That's much more efficient than bitching on an Internet forum by the way. I am cool with IW and Microsoft. Microsoft is dropping the hammer on cheaters with the delicacy of an elephant: the xbox.com forum are filled with twelve years old crying why their hacked console have been banned. IW works on patching their game: it's in their interest. If they want to get the same turnout that World At War had for the downloadable content, their interest is to make the game appeal to the large audience of regular players and not the minority of hackers with JTAG consoles. As far as Bad Company 2 is concerned, I would not bet on it that the bug itself is bug-free or glitch-free. If ever some glitches are found for BC2, they are going to spread like wildfire and ruin the game like for MW2.

jerzdawg
Can these things be done in the regular servers though? I can see these being done in the private matches but Ive def never seen anything like this being done in the games I play online.

PC users already have Aimbots and Wallhacks anyway.. not much different now.
nbtc971
Me and my clan were looking forward to MW2 but once they made their announcement about no dedicated servers, the clan totally shifted gears away from that game. Only 2 people of the probably 25 who would of gotten it did. Only 1 still bothers to play. With that said, IW's ridiculous decisions led the clan into the world of Battlefield and specifically Bad Company 2. Only 1 of our clan members had every played a Battlefield game but several of us got in the beta and we freakin' love it. I liked COD4 but I LOVE BC2. So because of that I guess I have to say it... thanks IW.

ew2x4
Besides a few care package glitchers, I have never ran into any mods or anything. The PC version must be completely screwed to have this much crap going on.
bjoswald
Sucks to be one of the lemmings who bought into the hype for this game. Kreuger
I was just telling my cousin the other day about how the PS3 is less affected than the 360 and both less than PC game glitches. Now I feel like a dolt.

There aren't ways to deal with substandard graphics of consoles or the total fail of playing FPS with a controller. just because you suck at FPS on consoles doens't mean its the controllers fault. and the graphics are good on console... calm down big guy. i bet you couldn't tell a difference if you saw all three games running on the same HDTV.
