Anyone tried The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom yet?

Recommended Posts

I saw this first on Major Nelson's blog first and the look of the game really got me. I have downloaded the demo but haven't gone around to playing it yet. Anyone here tried it?

It's ok. Kinda reminds me of a bunch of other games out there, including Braid...using the time/recording play back to solve puzzles. I won't be buying it. Thanks for the info though.

I totally wanted to check this one out, thanks for the reminder. I do not remember exactly what they back-story is with the developer, but it is a good story I do remember that.

All I remember is that this was developed around the same time as Braid and some reporters of E3 2008 got confused between the two games. The Indy developers didn't want to release the game without a publisher and 2K finally picked it up, so here it is

It's a pretty cool game. I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to buy it yet, but I have some other games to finish first anyway.

Yup interesting developer story. Someone's graduate thesis work. http://www.gamecareerguide.com/features/515/student_postmortem_uscs_the_.php

Yep that is it. (Y) I love how he actually hired the kids he went to school with to help complete the game as well. Just very cool.

As far as the game itself, visually it is AMAZING. I absolutely love the visual style so, so much. It really is one of the cooler visual approaches I have ever seen to be honest.

Gameplay wise, I just really wish the game came out awhile ago. I cannot help but feel it is now nothing new, and the whole record time thing I have now seen, so it is really just a shame. If this game managed to come out before a few games, it would have been considered amazing. Now, it just will come off like a copycat, which is unfair since that is not the case at all.

So while I am still interested in it, I will not be purchasing it to be quite frank. I will one day perhaps when it goes down in price and I am in the mood for that type of game. I could not even bring myself to finish the demo, as I just had felt I have seen very similar prior to checking this out. Shame really.

So its like Braid only more lame. In all seriousness they need to stop with the shovel ware and put games up there worth buying.

Too bad this isn't being released on PC. I played Braid, finished it and loved it and I'm looking forward to any game in that "genre" as I find them a lot more challenging and fun than plain FPS/Action/Sport.

tried it earlier for 20 or 30. Got stuck on one level so stopped for the time being. Anyway think it's pretty well done so I'll go back to it later.
