Killzone 3 May Make the 2010 Calendar

Recommended Posts

Tapping into the PlayStation 3?s capabilities and undoubtedly showcasing the system?s potential, Killzone 2 was quite possibly be the best shooter of 09′ and one of the best on Sony?s new-generation console. Guerrilla?s exclusive brought the current generation breathtaking graphics and a visceral online experience. The question on every fan?s mind is will Killzone receive another sequel? Well, it shouldn?t be too long until we see Sev and company return. A regular user SikTh on the PSU forums has indicated that we will see at least some new information on the Killzone 2 franchise in the coming week. The user also informed that if Killzone 3 is slated for 2010, then brace your self for an announcement in the next few days.

I did say that I was expecting a lot of Killzone 3 news this month and, well, we are starting to see Sony open up about it. There was a speculation on some website saying that we should expect to see news surfacing ?in? a few months from now when the actual article stated ?over the next few months?. This means that they will begin revealing more and more info over over the course and they?ll probably begin by official announcing the game.

SikTh last month had said we would see new information about the shooter this month:

I will have a LOT of Killzone 3 news next month. There was talk of trying to release the game by the end of 2010 to compete with Halo: Reach. I personally doubt that this will happen. I am almost certain we will see Killzone 3 Feb/March 2011. I can shed some more light on this next month.

SikTh also had access to other unreleased titles such as Aliens Vs Predator, Dante?s Inferno, Heavy Rain, as shown by screenshots here. So he does have some credibility, even if it isn?t completely official.

The PS3M rumor column stated we should ?expect more on Guerilla?s FPS sequel over the next few months?. It wouldn?t be much of a surprise if Killzone 3 makes an appearance at E3 this year if we do indeed hear of some confirmation in the next few days as to the existence to the next installation in the series.

That'd be cool. I loved the last one. If they can make it similar count me in. I'm not expecting a whole lot. However I would hope they increase the looking sensitivity, always felt sluggish compared to others.

I just don't think they can make it in 2010. Early 2011 sounds more reasonable.

Why not? The engine is there and ready. Too this date, still, Killzone 2's engine is one the best rendering engines made, making KZ2 one of the best looking games. Maybe a tweak here and there, but I think that it's ready.

I just hope that they make the story more interesting and the controls better, that's all.

Fix the controls, and this will probably be a top title this year as well. I figure that since the engine is pretty much done, they should be able to pump out at least 2 more sequels in quick order.

That would be nice to have a new Killzone this year. Loved Killzone 2 and looking forward to the third one. I just want to see Rico getting his ass kicked by a Helghast.

I'd also ask to fix the FOV. I'm surprised that hardly anyone noticed that if you stand in front of an NPC, you're looking at their waist.

Played through the whole campaign and I never noticed that.

Yeah it was mentioned that you seem to play a midget :)

I remember that in the play through as well, but it didn't bother or affect me or my game play in anyway. But it wouldn't hurt to make it more accurate.

It bothered me from time to time because it felt as if I were crouching the entire time. At times I wished I can have a larger FOV

I own Killzone and Killzone 2, and you know what? I can never seem to get into them, no matter how many hours I put into either of them.

The presentation and graphics were pretty good, but I thought the control scheme was very laggy and it lacked responsiveness and that alone is enough to throw me off an FPS.

I'm not trying to start anything here, I just wonder why people keep getting so hyped for the next Killzone installment.

I felt the controls in KZ2 were a little sluggish too, especially after playing COD4 and BF:BC. Still a good game once you get into it though, but if they could just shapen them up a bit for KZ3 they would have an outstanding game.

I'll be amazed if it comes out this year though, I reckon it'll be more like mid to end 2011.

Same here. Killzone 2 controls, especially compared to other games, definitely felt slow, but if you got past that aspect and got used to them, they worked. Just no doubt they could undeniably work better, so here is to hoping that they do tighten up the controls for Killzone 3. Better controls and more varied environments, and it could be one hell of a game.

Yeah, when you got used to them, they were quite okay. Only problem is, you usually play a few games alongside each other and when you have to move from sluggish controls to sharp controls at regular intervals it starts to become a real problem, something you notice right away.

Tbh I think I'll pass. KZ2 did little to nothing for me & considering it's budget then that puts a lot of things into perspective for me that they couldn't entertain me.
