Call of Duty 7 details emerge

Recommended Posts

A Hollywood casting call seems to have outed details about Call Of Duty 7 - revealing names of characters and news of the title's Vietnam setting.

The ad mentions a Call of Duty-related "voice over/motion capture" for an Activision "video game" - and describes lead character Frank Barnes as being part of an elite Vietnam unit.

VG247 reports that Barnes is part of an elite Vietnam unit: the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - Studies and Observations Group (SOG).

SOG was a real-life special operations unit which conducted covert unconventional warfare operations prior to and during the Vietnam War.

Barnes is described as "a fiercely patriotic veteran of WW2... A solid leader, possessed with an excellent ability to assess and respond to any situation quickly and decisively".

Other characters include Joseph Lewis, a "very physically fit" black man in his 20s; Jason Hudson, a white man in his 30s with "over 15 years of military experience, making him an excellent tactician and mission co-coordinator"; and Kristina Ivanova, a Russian-born martial arts expert and CIA operative who's "calm to the point of being cold and detached".

CVG reported earlier this year that the Call Of Duty 7 release date is coming this November.

Activision subsequently confirmed the game - but said that it confirmed the gamedoesn't expect it to sell as well as Modern Warfare 2.

I am glad they are going with Vietnam finally. I can't imagine a COD title that doesn't excite me. This is pretty exciting news to me. I just hope they continue with the barracks challenges. I love those.

Well, the Vietnam setting has been known for a long time but the game plot, so to speak is new.

I have been craving a decent Vietnam game for ages, hasn't been many of those at all but I just won't be getting this - Done with the Call of Duty name and a Treyarch game? God no, they make terrible SP campaigns.

Vietnam? LAME I'll skip this like I did WaW in favour of IW's next cod game

your loss. cod5 is still the best call of duty title

this is great news if true, hopefully it aint just a rumour still.

treyarch... please keep commando out of here, please no care packages, less killstreaks flying around... its should only be at 4, 6, 8... 25 kills is tactical napalm bomb !

I re-bought WaW on PS3 (it was ?8!) because I LOVE the campaign for it. To be honest, I liked MW/MW2 and WaW's campaign equally. MW2s online sector of the game was just retarded and so gimped out it's not even funny. Looking forward to this years release.

And so the yearly turgid stale CoD release is announced. Hey, anything will be better than MW2 though right?

You do realise theres a chance it will be IW.Net as well right? :\

Youre missing out then, i thought the same but then borrowed it from a friend, its a pretty decent game especially by Treyarch.

I'm looking forward to this, in the same way COD played on themes from stuff like Band of Brothers, I can see this playing on Vietnam movies, i.e.:

Village and final scene from Platoon

Gunship attack from Apocalypse now

Bridge Scene from Casualities of War

and of course the training and urban combat of Full Metal Jacket.

I can see this being good

What I liked about WaW is that it was using COD4's engine from Infinity Ward. Improved graphics, particles, perks, challenges and a much better gameplay feel than COD3.

Not to mention, COD WaW has co-op campaign (unlike MW2) online and offline.

Yawn. Nam, WWI, WWII, totally dead for me. WaW was a game I skipped, I guess I will be skipping this one too.

lemme guess.. u one of those cool kids showing off your cool gadgets, even if they aint realistically implemented (heartbeat sensor)

i bet u run around with commando and lightweight too lol

waw was more about the gunplay and had a much more grittier feel to it. treyarch are the boys

Bah, I remain skeptic. Last time I enjoyed WW or 'nam themed game was back in original Medal of Honor and Battlefield 1942 times. Didnt find will to even complete WaW.

It is too bad you feel that way especially if Treyarch doesn't come up with any ideas of their own this time considering with WaW they copied/pasted MW's multiplayer system.

+1 ! I've been unable to play co-op online because some of my friends have a very low bandwidth cap :( and since offline is not an option, yet.
