AJC.
I'm really sorry if I should be posting this somewhere else but 3 of my friends have recently been hacked on this site competition.t35.com (crossed out so you don't go to it). you "vote" for a friend and in return they steal your steam account. I have already sent e-mails to their hosting site here- abuse@t35.net. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. (Update) I got the hosts have taken down the site, YAY!! mad_onion
Well if you didn't notice that the URL in the address bar was wrong and you didn't notice that the English is barely understandably and you didn't notice that the page is rendered wrong then that's kinda your problem. There are any number of phishing sites that attempt to steal your details for a variety of things. The only viable courses of action are making sure you have some kind of phishing protection and best of all using common sense. Sophism
They haven't been hacked. They willingly gave the person there username/password.

I agree but still coming from someone you have known for 5 years on your friends list, it doesn't sound too bad... If I had come across this site myself I would have never entered it. +jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted February 22, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted February 22, 2010 D'oh. Steam is a store. They don't do vote-based purchases. Like any other store.

Sethos
People who give out their personal information or account information on such sites truly deserve to have their accounts stolen not to be returned.

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted February 22, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 22, 2010 It's a shame that people fall for this kind of crap. I'm sure that those who fell victim to this didn't intend on giving out their account information. Mistakes happen right? Still, people need to be more careful. A simple URL check should be enough to see that it isn't legit.

DirtyLarry Veteran Posted February 23, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 23, 2010 This is handy information and I appreciate it. Thanks for this response. All the OP was trying to do was share some information with people so they could avoid something disastrous. Sure, for some people, perhaps even most people, this would be blatantly obvious. But as far as I can see they were simply just trying to help people out. There was nothing but good intentions behind this thread. Just saying sometimes it may be better to just say nothing at all if you have nothing nice to say. So thank you AJC for sharing this to try and help people out. That is definitely appreciated and should be respected, at least IMO. Mr. Gibs, +LogicalApex, Dance. and 1 other 4 Share

I know a lot of smart people were on this forum so I posted it to help you guys out. This thread does have some good tips for others though. As most say the URL is a pure indicator that the site is fake, Also I have notified Steam and they said they where looking into it for copyright reasons so it's all good :D
Billus
Hey guys, I just logged into the site but I haven't gotten any free valve gifts. I can't even log into Steam anymore. Anyone know what the problem is? /jk
Cupcakes
You could always report the website to Google that way it'll trigger a browser's built-in malware/phishing warning. http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/ MikeChipshop 1 Share
bolerodan
Hahaha. The spelling and grammatical errors on that page is large enough to tip you off.

carmatic
i dunnoe, one day i was half asleep and i gave my paypal password to a paypal-lookalike phishing site... so yeah, the more people who have this info at the back of their heads, the better, for that one time they would have otherwise fell for it granted it was IE7 (no url highlighting) on a public pc with a semi blurry crt monitor on a really high resolution.... so yeah... and lol at this site using the old steam theme, just as the new steam theme was being rolled out

Cupcakes
Or you can install WOT Uh, no. Reporting any and all phishing/malware/spam sites are FAR more efficient then installing something to warn just YOURSELF. Unless WOT also reports these websites to Google so that they have malware notices in google search and so browsers will display their built-in warning.. then sure.. Otherwise.. no. MikeChipshop Member Posted February 26, 2010 Member Share Posted February 26, 2010 +1's to both AJC and Cupcakes (Y) It's about education and stopping these ar*eholes from being able to do this. I sure as hell wouldn't fall for it but many would and the OP was helping educate and Cupcakes was pointing out the best way of shutting these fools revenue stream down.
