mokthraka
so is it sort of like an interactive story? cause that would be sweet. when i was playing mass effect there where times i really wanted it just to get back to the story part of the game and not so much the shooting
clotz2000
You may enjoy solving the puzzles and looking for clues. I played the Demo and I found it very tedious to play, you have to use the controller for everything including helping a guy use an Asthma inhaler and a long tedious quicktime event fight. I have yet to play the retail version, but if it's like the demo I may pass on it. It may have a good story but to me it's too much work and not fun... Oh yeah, I forgot, I played both Mass Effects and thoroughly enjoyed both!

I found out it has around 10 hours. not bad, and it seems like it has replay value

Also it is not very hard to look up a trailer, read a synopsis or play the demo. I am not against discussion in fact there's a thread right on this forum for this game. But asking if you would enjoy it? What if the majority said no? Would you simply listen to them and ignore it? Anyway that's just a mini rant from me. Carry on. Pablo2008jedi
If you enjoyed the old Point and Click games you'll enjoy this. I myself was concerned about it, but after playing the demo I am definately buying it, but have to wait a month for funds :p (Final Fantasy XIII comes first! ) The only thing that annoys me is the walking movements, feels very robotic but the story is the most interesting part. A few days later my wife played the demo and had a totally different experiance in the first scene comapred to me THAT makes it a very good thing! Plarkster
The only thing that annoys me is the walking movements, feels very robotic but the story is the most interesting part. I agree, it felt a bit clunky. The demo was ok but a bit slow for me, I do enjoy these types of games - I loved Fahrenheit, but I'm not convinced that Heavy Rain is going to be the 'killer' game Sony have claimed it will be. Still, it's on my rental list for when it comes out.

I played the Demo and I found it very tedious to play, you have to use the controller for everything including helping a guy use an Asthma inhaler Don't forget about the button mashing required to get the guy's fat stomach around the garbage dumpster I remember a time when the point of a forum was to ask question and advice, and have dicsussions And it still is. You are perfectly in your right to ask such a question. I think you may want to rent the title though.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 23, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted February 23, 2010 It's all about story and that's what it's getting high scores for, the demo was just an introduction to the controls, and reviewers have already said the first 1/4 or so of the game is slow (on purpose), for it's own reasons. I'm buying it as story is always my first port of call for games, and games like this need the support of people like me who like story to survive. There's gamers out there who think MW2 has an oscar worthy story, so really, shows you how low expectations so many people have of the gaming medium, and it's rather unfortunate for our industry. Whatever Cage has made here it's a lot better than Fahrenheit, and hopefully it'll be a big enough hit for him to learn from Heavy Rain again, and make something even more special next time. If you're not 14 and have to pew pew pew all the time, enjoy drama/suspense/thrillers and are willing to put up with a plot that's not "kill **** and save the world", then I'd say you'd quite easily enjoy this. Anyone with a kid(s) should also enjoy this game. Watch the video here, it's not gameplay it's something a little different.

Simplified too much, watch the video reviews, controls get praised, it is not one long quicktime event, firstly considering you cannot fail at anything in Heavy Rain. Sethos
I sincerely hope it won't be too slow paced throughout, have a feeling it's going to require an immense amount of coffee.

D!ABOL!C
Probably not adding much, but for me I enjoy getting immeresed in the story. I was definitely drawn in by the demo, in fact I was at the edge of my seat during the fight sequence. If you are the type that likes to engross themself, I think you will enjoy. However I can definitely see this game is NOT for everyone. If you have any doubts, you will know in the first couple of sequences of the demo. Yes I know it's not representative of the whole game, but it gives you a decent idea on what to look for. I can't wait to pick it up this afternoon :)

The hill scene is actually really easy if you paid attention to the tutorial text earlier. You only need to hold the button until it's grey box fills up. NeoTrunks
I've had the game preordered for a long time now. Getting it for about $45 USD shipped with release date delivery (today). Playing the demo just left me wanting more. I played at the medium difficulty and had no trouble with the fight scene, which I thought was really well crafted. I can't wait to get it tonight when I'm out of work. As mentioned, I kind of see the game as an evolution of the point and click adventure games of the past. I guess the difference here is that there are many more choices with Heavy Rain. I know I'll be having fun with it.

SouthWest
I recently finished it before 10-12 hours of game (I repeated some chapters, so someone could finish it in less time). I got the "very happy" ending so I can say there's a lot of space for replayability. The story is good, it's more polished than Indigo Prophecy and you can immerse in the head of every one of the characters. My only grips are: -Controls Way to clunky, you can't move naturally and, sometimes, you get stuck without salvation (you have to reset the console). The QTE are nicely implemented and even if you fail one or two steps you can recover well, except in one particular scene. -Graphics Gorgeous facial details. The rest? Not so much. Some animations looks way to unnatural, even laughable. The way the story works save this part because you're more concentrated in resolving the mystery. Many will rant about the ending and the identity of the origami killer but, after the Indigo Prophecy fiasco I was prepared to forget about Quantum Dreams, Heavy Rain is a very moving game and a nice experience. It will be a very interesting candidate for GOTY (personally i think it wont won, can be wrong). Edited February 23, 2010 by SouthWest
