Steam issue

Recommended Posts

updated to the new steam beta, but I get an error when viewing community or the store, it just doesn't show up for me, everything else works, which is why I'm going to keep it until it borks up bigger than a few bugs.

The problem is caused by a setting in Internet Explorer's connection settings. Under "LAN Settings" in the Internet Options, if the box "Automatically detect settings" is checked, the Steam browser will not function. Once the box is unchecked, and Steam restarted (note I do not use a proxy) the browser works properly. So to fix the problem, open IE, go to Tools -> Internet Options ->Connections -> LAN Settings, and uncheck "Automatically detect settings," then close and re-open Steam.

Nevermind, this fixes it.

The new UI's pretty good, except that occasionally the game overlay won't show, requiring a game restart.

The fonts look a bit blurry...

edit: Oops :p

When you go into this new Beta, they say you don't have to redownload your game content. They mention backing up your steamapps folder. Then replacing it.. then letting the new beta "verify inetgrity of the files"
