acnpt
Just a little sweepstake(no prizes :p) about when we think the new Macbook Pro update will be revealed. I wish they would hurry up, so tempted just to buy one now. Normally I would 'just buy it', but considering the price and possible improvements :/ So place your bets ;D
Brian M. Veteran Posted February 26, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 26, 2010 My guess is going on a small refresh (possibly CPU/HDD Bump) like they did last time, followed by a larger update later in the year.
greythorne
My guess is going on a small refresh (possibly CPU/HDD Bump) like they did last time, followed by a larger update later in the year. In that case you got to wait like forever. Anyway i may buy one when they release the new revision.
chicken-royal
I hope March, but no idea realistically.
PL_ Veteran Posted February 27, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 27, 2010 I reckon it's been held back so they can include NVIDIA's Optimus.
instant.human
for me, it turned out well. i had to buy a new laptop back in december because my blackbook slowly died on me and i felt like it only had a few days left, so i bought a macbook pro on the 15th, while normally i wouldve waited til at least janurary, there were some rumors, afterall. now its march 1st and there is no update yet. if they did update it in janurary, it wouldve been a major pain in the arse, because i wanted but couldnt wait. now, i feel alright and my macbook pro runs like a champ. but my guess is that yea, this month there might be some minor updates and in june or july something (completely?) new. maybe with a magic trackpad? ;)
ObiWanToby
I reckon it's been held back so they can include NVIDIA's Optimus. Isn't it already out? Though asus had a few shipping models.
Migra
I want they update the iMac 27" now!!!!!! I'm not going to buy the $1,699.00 until they update it to i5 processor and 8GB of RAM, that would worth 1,699.00 to me!

Stetson
Isn't it already out? Though asus had a few shipping models. Yes, but they still have to work with NVidia to get the software switching working well under OSX.
DrCheese
Never at this rate, it's getting pretty stupid now. It wouldn't matter so much if they lowered the price of the MBP during it's cycle but the asking price for last generation equipment so long after other companies have managed to get Arrandale systems out is insane. I suppose it is partly Intel's fault, given that denying Nvidia a core i5/7 license no doubt set back Apple's plans whist Nvidia developed alternative tech like optimus, but come on. All of this said tho, I doubt the average person has a clue when it comes to spec's so I suppose MBP's are still selling pretty well in stores on the "oohh shiny" appeal alone. I just wish they would hurry up, I'm possibly in the market for a new laptop soon :p
Shadrack
Probably no later than the end of summer they will have SOME kind of hardware refresh. I would expect early summer (Mayish).
1759
I think next month, around the same time Steam drops. Even that doesn't happen, I don't think it will affect Apple, people will either hold longer or buy one anyway, because of the logo.
chicken-royal
Sick of waiting for these now. 90% certain I'm going to build a new gaming desktop instead. Waiting another month for that anyway until I've finished uni and Nvidia have released their new cards. New MBP specs would have to be really impressive to make me reconsider (again!). :/
+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted March 12, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted March 12, 2010 The Apple Store is down. I repeat: The Apple Store is DOWN. Could it be for new MBPs? Or is it for the iPad? Tune in later to find out which new toys Saint Steve will have given his faithful followers.
Chasethebase Reporter Posted March 12, 2010 Reporter Share Posted March 12, 2010 I think Apple might slip something in under the radar with the iPad as well. The 17" MBP's do look very nice...

I doubt its the MBP. :( I know it is down for the opening of the iPad pre-orders but aside from that we will just have to wait some more.

Hendrick
Historically, it's been at WWDC in June, with a small, minor update around the first of the year. Since we're in March, I don't think Apple is going to have that small update, and then update it again in a few months. So, my vote is during WWDC, in June. Vice
There really is no reason for them to take the entire store down just to update stuff on it. In-fact I've even seen them add and remove stuff without taking the store offline previously. Usually only when its 3rd party items not made by apple which are changed does the store not go down. They totally do this just for the publicity on the blogsphere. Of course I'm sure everyone here on this forum knows this!
Dance.
Yeah they do. It's a really cheap and effective way to generate publicity.I've been waiting on an MBP revision for around 2 months now .
