Diablo III Pricing...

Activison: Paying monthly to play games that never used to require it enhances the experience!

But really, it most likely won't have a monthly subscription fee...but with Activision anything is possible.

The Gamestop page says it's developed and published by Blizzard, wouldn't the Publisher be Activision now?

Activision and Blizzard merged, probably easier to say it's both from Blizz :p

Keep the fans happy!

I know they merged I just thought the publisher would have been activision.

There isn't even a release date yet, this is just gamestop making a guess on the price.

Are you sure about that? Without a doubt anyone can reliably call Diablo 3 game of the year for the PC whenever it comes out. As Piggy said in this thread, people are going to buy it regardless of price so why wouldn't they get every penny they can out of it?

Official pricing and release dates have not been announced by Blizzard. Price and release date listed are estimates only and subject to change. Worry Free Guarantee - if the price decreases between the time you place your preorder and the release date, you?ll receive the lower of the two.

Regardz :)

I get that, but with the recent trend of (pc) games being priced more do you really think it will change? I don't really care either way, I'm not sure if I'll get it or not, it's really to early to tell.

I don't like the direction PC gaming is being taken in. As of lately, it's all about porting console games directly to the PC providing us with less than we deserve, and charging us more for it.

As for the price of Diablo III, I pretty much knew it was going to be $60 before I even checked the GameStop link.

Really, with the quality of games Blizzard puts out, it's not that much of a bummer. Their games are pure gold.

Starcraft II will be 2010 GotY across all platforms. Diablo III will be 2011/2012 GotY across all platforms.

As far as I know, Diablo 3 is being developed as a PC only title. So there is that..

Here's what J. Allen Brack has to say:

We just want to make the right game for the right platform.

Think about StarCraft II. Some real-time strategy games have tried to happen on the console. Some of those have been successful, but overall, our experience is that it's going to be a better game on the PC, ergo it's developed on the PC.

But we're a company of gamers. I have two consoles at home. Sam has consoles. We're a culture of gamers. We will definitely work on a console game at some point. I have no doubt about that. It's just [a matter of] what game. What makes the most sense?

I know he says Starcraft 2 but he's just using that as an example.

All platforms? I think you meant PC/Mac-only. Both those games won't see the light of day on the X360/PS3. Still, it's too early to tell how much Diablo III will sell for.

*shrug* Move to another country then you can complain. It'll be RRP $120AU here which is no way comparable to a US to AU conversion. There will be cheaper places mind.

Harsh! And I was complaining about the prices here in Canada.

That said, like Piggy said, they'll probably get away with this for me (assuming this isn't just a flat out guess on GameStop's part). It's ten bucks more, but at least we know it'll be well supported. It is Blizzard, after all.

I didn't mean they will come out on 360/PS3. I meant they will be the GotY period for everything released.

Gamestop just wants the pre-order money. Blizz already said no D3 in 2010. It was like when I went in to pre-order a game right after Catalcysm was announced and they asked for my pre-order with release over a year away, its pointless.

Wouldn't mind paying the extra $10 provided the Battle.net isn't pay to play. I mean, obviously they're going to need money to run the servers. Provided the gameplay is all there as well, I really don't see the bother. I mean, considering how long D2 has been supported for online play, I certainly can't complain.

I'm sure many of us would've been okay with MW2 provided they had released it in the form that we wanted it. Big problem with that game was how much bang you got for the buck, which just wasn't enough at all.

Oh, and if I'm not mistaken, they've still got a 1.13 patch coming out for D2, right? With respec options and such... only a matter of time now I suppose, unless it's out already.
