carmatic
No one brings up they already tried this once with the Pippen which failed horribly. it's spelt 'Pippin' , and it was made by Bandai and it was basically alot like a Macintosh, like expandable memory and macintosh connectors and all that.... Minifig
How is that any diffrent from MS though? :s The iPhone app rules: 1. No images of women in bikinis (Ice skating tights are not OK either) 2. No images of men in bikinis! (I didn?t ask about Ice Skating tights for men) 3. No skin (he seriously said this) (I asked if a Burqa was OK, and the Apple guy got angry) 4. No silhouettes that indicate that Wobble can be used for wobbling boobs (yes ? I am serious, we have to remove the silhouette in this pic) 5. No sexual connotations or innuendo: boobs, babes, booty, sex ? all banned 6. Nothing that can be sexually arousing!! (I doubt many people could get aroused with the pic above but those puritanical guys at Apple must get off on pretty mundane things to find Wobble ?overtly sexual!) 7. No apps will be approved that in any way imply sexual content (not sure how Playboy is still in the store, but ?) http://venturebeat.com/2010/02/20/apple-bans-5000-apps-for-sexual-content-here-are-the-new-rules/ Sounds like it'll be an AWESOME console to game on. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted March 1, 2010 Veteran Share Posted March 1, 2010 Entering the home console market is very ambitious, even for Apple. In the past, companies have shrivelled away because they couldn't compete (SEGA, Atari, etc). And how will they establish themselves like Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo? George P Global Moderator Posted March 1, 2010 Global Moderator Share Posted March 1, 2010 AppleTV + AppStore + Controller. = failure. That combo doesn't even have that wow factor that made the Wii sell well. It's totally a waste of time and money on apples part to even try that. Like I said, they're too busy trying to defend their iPhone market AND trying to get into the ebook/tablet market.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted March 1, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted March 1, 2010 He added: "So Apple's going to be solely dependent on third parties to support their console in the future." Fail, 3rd parties are trying to support all platforms in order to maximize profits, it's all about platform hardware unity to the point of being able to port nowadays. Without at least some exclusives, your console is less attractive to buy. Apple's gaming realm will be the iPhone/Portable devices market, not the in-home under your TV device. Vice
sega and apple should make a console together They should bring back the Dreamcast. That console was amazing. Imagine a new Dreamcast!
Spookie
That silly logic is everywhere. Might I suggest you take a trip down under and see how they like to ban things there? America is best known for their skewed logic though. At least the Ozzys are consistant enough to just go right ahead and ban hammer everything! :P
Growled Member Posted March 1, 2010 Member Share Posted March 1, 2010 I don't see this happening. Apple is not a follower. It would take them years to build up a console to match the leaders. Unless they have something new up their sleeves, that is.
Lingwo
I wish gametrailers would stop pushing this guy. He reels off so many predictions 90% are wrong. He just has many that law of average means one will be right.
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted March 1, 2010 Global Moderator Share Posted March 1, 2010 The last thing we need is yet another game console. Having three to choose from is great for competition and what gives you the best options for your budget or interest. I see a fail coming.
protocol7
I can't see Apple re-entering the games console arena again. As has been said already, there's enough to choose from between the "big three". An Apple console would bring nothing new to the table and I can't see the big publishers like EA, Ubi and Activision supporting it.
Xenon
I call BS on this. The market can't support another console.
PL_ Veteran Posted March 1, 2010 Veteran Share Posted March 1, 2010 They should bring back the Dreamcast. That console was amazing. Imagine a new Dreamcast! Sega was clearly never going to last. They ****ed everyone with the 32X/CD Megadrive expansions and they ****ed everyone by dropping the Saturn quickly. EA refused to support them which made sense, and Sega began relying on promises of expansions for the Dreamcast like the MP3 and DVD player. Discontinuing the Dreamcast and giving up on consoles was a great move, as now Sega develops for all platforms so we all benefit.

But even so I loved the Dreamcast it was so good. Jet Set Radio was an awesome game as was Choo Choo Rocket and Sonic Adventure. The memory card with the screen was ahead of its time. Just a great console. I know Sega messed up with the Sega Saturn and ****ed on developers with the Dreamcast launch. But honestly as a consumer I loved the Dreamcast and was so sad when it finally ended.
Motoko.
Bring it on Apple If Sega was the same company it was before it became software based you could see Apple and Sega making a console together I still want that to happen.
