Deja Vu Surrounds Infinity Ward Rumors, Studio heads lose jobs

Recommended Posts

Activision is ran by a bunch of ****ing *******s.

They make EA look like saints.

WTF?

LOL! Why do people become so hostile like this towards issues that that they really don't know about...

After what happened to COD4:MW2 on the PC I really have little sympathy for this situation. I hope both Infinity Ward and Activision burn (Y)

You want them to loose their jobs because you thought their game was bad?

If a game developer makes **** games, they should not be a game developer. It is entirely feasible that a studio would be shut down or massively cut back if they did not meet the expectations of their publisher. It is, after all, their job - is it not?

Regardless, I do sympathise with the guys at the centre of this - I don't approve of the way that IW dealt with the whole MW2 PC debacle, but I still hope that they end up alright. They are a talented studio at the end of the day.

Well since it's pretty clear MW2 easily met the publishers expectations there is really no obvious reason for Acitivision to be messing IW based on that criteria.

Indeed. Everything is pure speculation at this point. I was just referring to the point made by a previous poster that it would be silly for a developer to lose their job if they put out a game that people thought was rubbish.

It is actually Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. There is no COD4 in the name here plus they technically stopped with the whole numbers after 4. But why hope for each company to burn? Obviously Activision has done some wrong doing here. Infinity Ward may of not put out the best game, I still very highly enjoy it. True, a lot of things should of be done differently and/or fixed prior to its release (cough *should of been a beta* cough). But it still an overall fun game if you are playing with friends on a regular basis and can ignore the bad times.

Still calling it, COD: MW3 out holiday season 2010, outsourced and managed by slave grinders

Whoever ends up doing it, if it even gets done too lets say, it would be out Holiday Season 2011. This year's game will most very likely be by Treyarch and set back in old times like they have been doing. I have not kept up with news on this, as even though Treyarch did good last time around compared to times before. I am not a fan of the whole WW2/old times/old weapons type of deal anymore like I use to be. Last rumors I heard a while back was that it could be in Vietnam.

How funny would it be if they soon will get hired by EA to head the next Medal of Honor title? (not the one this year)

Well they would be back to work on where they started. I am glad to see the Medal of Honor franchise reborn and set to modern times. I started online gaming with Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and boy where those times fun online. :)

Well if this is all true then it seems a bit harsh in IW. Giving them no royalties whilst Activision bathe in the billions of dollars revenue from MW2 is just out of order. Then again, Activision are blood-sucking vampires, and I refuse to buy another game published by them.

If I was IW I'd pull the servers from all their games right now and walkout.

And that would be why you do not work there... Nor would this really effect anyone other than probably the PC gamers (IWNet).

This is going to go down as one of the biggest gaming **** ups since Westwood.

Thing is IW will get their royalties (eventually), leave Activision (which they'll kill CoD like they did Guitar Hero & Tony Hawk), and IW will go onto greater things & do "a Bungie".

How is this different than any other company that has potential lawsuits?

Because the whole thing has been handled terribly.

"I strongly suspect nobody will be able to say anything unless whatever expected lawsuits address this matter go to court and become a matter of public record. Until then, everybody's probably going to clam up for legal reasons. I think a lot of "news" tomorrow will be rumor and gossip rather than fact."

"Tomorrow promises to be?well, fun isn't the word. I'm going to bed. Maybe if I'm lucky, I will die in my sleep."

I'm sure it's great for employee's to be writing things like that.

From the article that Ayepecks linked:

In 2011, Activision will release another new game in the Call of Duty series from an unspecified developer. It also announced plans for another Call of Duty-based title from developer Sledgehammer Games, the recently formed studio lead by Dead Space creative leads Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey. The Sledgehammer- helmed title will "extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre."

You have got to be kidding me. It's bad enough that you have Treyarch continuously churning out soulless franchise instalments, but now we have two new teams working on Call of Duty titles? When IW's contract with Activision expires, they should run like hell and never look back.

Kotick wasn't joking when he said that he was going to exploit his franchises.

Looks like Activision figured they were going to get ****ed with BF:Bad Company 2 and it's glory and they need a way to get the attention back on them.

I NEVER liked Activision and now I hate them even more. EA is looking like a saint now compared to Activision.

Even though I am ****ed off at IW for releasing a ****ty game called MW2, I hope that they get the name Call of Duty and take it with them and **** on it and burn it. Take it with them somewhere else and not do anything with the name. That will seriously be a funny f-u to Activision.

Let Microsoft buy them out. I feel Microsoft is less of the two evils..

Pfft Microsoft would make IW games Xbox exclusives, no thanks.

A major corporation is bullying a smaller company into doing what it wants, I guess the only thing new about this is that it got caught by the media.
