thealexweb
I'm thinking of getting a Xbox 360 Controller for PC but I was wondering about something, for games that don't fully support the controller is there an program (official or unofficial) that allows you to change what happens when you press a button on the controller. I'm explaining this badly, I'm sorry. For example, say I was playing a really old game that uses keyboard controls, could I change some of the buttons on the controller to replicate the up, down, left and right on the keyboard to make it easier to play. Can you do this and it is possible? Also if this a good deal for a Xbox 360 Controller for PC? http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/842412/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Controller-For-Windows/Product.html
3rdDin8
Yes, use Xpadder (the older 5.3 is free). As for the price, seems OK to me if you don't already have a X360 controller.
macrosslover
just curious do you already have an xbox 360 and associted wireless controllers?
Minifig
Yes, use Xpadder (the older 5.3 is free). As for the price, seems OK to me if you don't already have a X360 controller. If you use 7, you don't even have to use XPadder. It'll automatically install drivers or you can locate a free set online. ---- Be sure that the 360 controller you buy is wired the wireless ones don't work.. I found this out the hard way. .Markus
I use Pinnacle Game Profiler myself, when I want to play Deus Ex or any other ancient game with my 360 controller. (Y) Haven't tried Xpadder though, which AcidicMatter suggested, which I'd recommend to check out first as Pinnacle is around $20..
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted March 2, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted March 2, 2010 The Wireless ones do indeed work, but you'll need to buy an accessory. http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/hardware/x/xbox360wirelessgamingreceiver/ Got the link from Google. I don't browse Xbox Canada. >.>
thealexweb
That one on Play.com is indeed a wired console so that's not a problem, I'm using Vista btw. I'll give some of these ago when it arrives. Thanks everyone.

c3ntury
You should be good by just plugging it in. :) So does this controller allow you to play ANY PC game via a xbox controller or only certain ones?
scokem
I have the wireless receiver for Windows and have used it on both my laptop with Vista and my PC with 7. I've never used anything other than the official drivers and for re-mapping keys (can only remember doing it in UT3), I just went into the keyboard/mouse/controller options in-game and changed it. The wireless ones do work ok. I had to go to the Microsoft drivers site to get updated drivers, but it does work very well.

Play.com has never been fast at delivery. Maybe 3 - 5 working days, usually?
acnpt
Normally takes 2 or 3 days for me, but sometimes longer. It comes from Jersey, and that normally adds at least a day.
AJC.
If your using the controller on Windows 7 or it's a "Games For Windows" game then it will work fine and you can configure the settings in the controller tab in-game. If it doesn't work then just get xpadder like others said, I use it and it works well on HL2. Also if your controller is wireless your going to need an xbox 360 wireless receiver which you can find at Best Buy. There is also one that comes with a controller like this- Happy Gaming! It's a wired one so I'm fine, only a few of the games I'm gonna be using it for have a Games for Windows brand so I'm gonna be using Xpadder profilers for each game.
