+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted March 3, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted March 3, 2010 Six Days In Fallujah, a game based on the Iraq War that Konami thought was too "hot" to publish, has according to IGN been completed, and is ready to be released."I can promise you that game is still coming out and it is finished", a source told the video games website, reminding us all of a promising project that had been all but forgotten. It also suggests that developer Atomic Games remains operational in some capacity, despite reports that it had closed down following Konami's refusal to publish the title. The game caused controversy when first announced, with some believing it was "too soon" to base a game off events in a war that was still ongoing, and that the contribution of "insurgents" in the development process was in poor taste. Sethos
Meanwhile, I've been playing a game with Iraqi-looking maps, roadside bombs, Insurgents, Americans dying all over the place and the unnessecary killing of civilians with high-powered anti-material rifles. But no, because this has "Iraq" in its game description it's suddenly controversial.

macf13nd
I'll gladly throw this in the bin. presumably along with COD:MW2? edit: No one said anything about Modern Warfare an easily controversial title. well exactly, so what was your orginial point? The precedent has already been set - games can be adult. Although I agree that watching Black Hawk Down was very immoral as well </sarcasm>
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted March 3, 2010 Author Subscriber² Share Posted March 3, 2010 No one said anything about Modern Warfare; an easily controversial title. MW2 got a lot of limelight for that level, but it's Activision they'd somehow push a game through to do with torturing children if it would somehow sell 10m. Motoko.
presumably along with COD:MW2? Yeah might as well. No better way to profit from an on going war when you're killing civilians, their culture (by replacing it with your own) and their future generations to come. To think that it doesn't affect you or anyone else is just being self centered and materialistic. War is not a game and that's the purpose of these titles to desensitize you from whats real and acceptable in this world today. People shouldn't turn a blind eye toward something like this. soniqstylz
I really don't see what's the big deal. me either. Especially since it was the Marines who fought in Fallujah who asked the devs to make the game, I'm sure they knew the devs were talking to insurgents to make it realistic, and that it tackles the psychological aspect of war as much as anything else, obviously much more than some arcadey shooters, like playing some of the village scenes in RE5, ohmy**** this is a runon sentence.
