Solid Knight
Of course. Consider the problem. OS bug disconnects users from the PSN. Updates are pushed through the PSN.

hdood
years of trophies?? didnt they just start using them in the last yr or so? and isnt sky news EU?? maybe thats why theres all those lawsuit hints. Lawsuits of this kind are rare are an American stereotype. In Europe (where not all countries even have punitive damages) they are more rare. I guess you might be thinking of the antitrust case against Microsoft (or Intel), but that is not a lawsuit, and neither was the equivalent case in the US. chicken-royal
Got to be kidding? It wasn't working for one day. It's not like Sony deliberately planned for it to happen. :/

soniqstylz
years of trophies?? didnt they just start using them in the last yr or so? almost 2. summer of '08. I'd sue, too, if I had to replay Leisure Suit Larry again for that plat. In fact, I should sue the makers of LSL for making such a game. And gamefly for stocking it. And Corris and Kol, for roping me into being such a trophy ######. And PS3trophies.org, for letting me know it was such an easy plat.

M_Lyons10
I'm so fed up with these frivolous suits... People will sue for anything anymore, and it's nothing but a money grab... It's a shame if they lost their trophies and stuff, I would be upset about that as well (And this is the first I'm hearing about that particular issue)... Doesn't Sony have some sort of backup system? I'd sue, too, if I had to replay Leisure Suit Larry again for that plat. In fact, I should sue the makers of LSL for making such a game. Pablo2008jedi
Personal sense of achievement. Yeah I suppose, just I've never bothered about them :p I complete a game and thats it. Its just I've read several posts where people say "Yip, I'm going to go for Platanum on that" I just think its sad :p you either complete the game or not. Maybe I'm just wierd :shiftyninja:

Maybe I'm just wierd :shiftyninja: I'm down the middle, if a game I play naturally lets me obtain most of the trophies for "playing well" first playthrough and has replay value I'll usually go back and try to get some more. But **** like find 100 pigeons in GTA4 and other stuff like that can GTFO. Complete waste of time IMO, I have enough games to play as it is, so USUALLY I'll just complete a game as is and get whatever trophies I get. I'll add DS plat one day but that's just because I was lured into playing through it 4 times anyway due it's new game + mechanics, so it's possible to get all the trophies through natural gameplay, no obscene pixel finding nonsense. Meh, I always got the 100 "packages" in every other GTA, didn't need a trophy to get me to do that. Actually, wait, I take that back, I did, since every other GTA gave me a weapons reward for doing it. I rent most games, so if I can't get the plat in 2 weeks or so, or have to grind online trophies, I don't bother. I play as I play, get what I can, and move on. Which is why I have a lot of 70% games, cuz I didn't bother with the "hard" playthrough or getting to level 80 online. I think Killzone is the only one where I got "General". The trophies themselves (and achievements) are more of a material show-off for the most part for stuff I would've done anyway; other times it gives me a goal or challenge to shoot for in some respects that I wouldn't have thought of or gone for before (ie, vita-chambers off in Bioshock, some of the trophies in Heavy Rain, etc.). I think I've played about 4-5 games I wouldn't otherwise play just because I knew I could get the plat, and ones like Mini Ninjas I'm glad I rented because I actually enjoyed that game. Now, trophies like "Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic" -- a 20 hr. bronze? **** that noise.

rkenshin
Ah yes, "sue happy America". We are wonderful people that we have to sue companies for anything and everything to put money in our own pockets. F'in ridiculous if you ask me.
C_Guy
Well, if these gamers are so concerned over the emotional trauma they suffered during the 1-day outage then I suggest they sue Sony for the pro-rated cost of 1 day of service on the PlayStation Network. Now, we just need to calcualte that cost. Anyone got a calculator? :p
