New MBP - Keyboard Backlit problem?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I just bought a new Macbook pro and have been using it for around 24 hours now, only to notice what appears to be one of my keys not appearing to be lighting up properly. the B key seems to be lighting up but i'm thinking thats from the other keys around it.

Have a look below and let me know if you guys think i'm right? I have the 14 day return/exchange policy but the Apple store is quite a bit away so don't want to walk all the way up there only to be told i'm talking rubbish/paranoid.

It's the 13" Base model, i paid i think ?918 for it......so i'm sure you guys know where i'm coming from when i post this.

Personally, unless you really need it now I'd return it and wait for the update, which hopefully wont be too far away. That is a lot of money to pay for the specs, even accounting for the apple tax.

Looks normal to me. It's just something about how your B key is sitting right now. From the photo, it looks like it's still plenty bright, which wouldn't be the case if it was just the adjacent lights lighting it.

Edit: Just figured it out. :p There's no light underneath the center of the spacebar (would be stupid if there was), so it looks a little darker than the other keys. Completely normal.

To be honest, the keyboard backlight is most optimal in the dimmest yet visible setting. For me that is 1 bar. Even if the light wasn't working properly it shouldn't change your experience at all. But if it is really important to you, then have Apple take a look at it. I'm sure while it is under warranty they will probably fix it.
