Ousted Infinity Ward founders file suit against Activision

Recommended Posts

Yeah I actually never want to play another Activison game again after reading it.

I really hope the whole gaming community comes together and ruins them.

I refused to buy any Asstivision game anymore.

About time, folks. Time to boycott this horrid monster.

Anyone with some logo making skills wanna put together an Anti-Activision logo? Would be a nice donation to the community. :p

Just read the court documents what a load of crap, most of it was ego stroking and the patting of ones back, what the hell does creating CoD 1 have to do with the issues they are now having.

"OMG we are so awesome, look how great we are. Activision are making us cry, boohoo."

Anyone who's saying they'll boycott, I highly doubt that will happen.

Look at how many people said they would boycott MW2 and then turned around and actually bought it...

i wasn't one of those, i generally don't like the CoD games unless they are made by infinity ward anyways. the others ones always seem like a repackage or just a mod. But if they are outing IW then i probably won't buy it.

I have never liked Activision and I hate them even more now. The only good series that I really liked, that Activision published, was the CoD: Series. 1, 2, 4:MW, and MW2 (all made by Infinity Ward) were really good. MW2 was not as good as the rest, but still IW did an ok job.

I hope that they take Activision to the ground, burn them, and take what is rightfully theirs. Die Activision.

It's their own damn fault. They have become so greedy.

Oh, I agree. They sure deserve it. If they are ruined for this it's their own damn fault.

Regardless of whether what was said in those documents is true I will not buy a single thing from Activision. They can rot in hell.

It's all good saying that but activision have plenty of cash to buy them selves out of this and do whatever they want i guess. They are blizzard aswell now. The cash cow that is WoW is plenty to keep activision going.

It shows a good work history for IW and that Activision and their claims don't have a leg to stand on. Integrity and what not. That stuff is important for the court to know.

A lot of the stuff seems to be exaggerated, but then again..it's Activision. Don't get between Bobby boy and his money.

a shame it had to come to this. i mean these two parties have been very good for one another for almost a decade, and now they fall out like this. and think of the people left behind at IW, they're probably going to get major attitude from the Activision people over this affair. just a shame, greed and pride will be the downfall of us all. i'm not trying to be profound, it's just a fact, if they were all more down to earth they'd just let it go. Activision would let them take a two-three year hiatus from MW2 while the rest of IW and Treyarch did the next couple of entries in the franchise, while the IW honchos wouldn't be so up tight about it all.

I just read through the court documents. I don't care what you think about IW and Activision, but what Activision did here is pretty damn hard to forgive (assuming all of the information in the court documents is true and not dramatized in any way).

From Page 2:

Just weeks before Messrs, West, and Zampella were to receive the royalties for their hard work on Modern Warfare 2, Activision fired them?

I'm having a hard time believing that the timing is just a coincidence.

From Page 8:

The MOU [memorandum of understanding] gives West and Zampella the right to operate Infinity Ward independently and to choose to develop new intellectual property after they completed Modern Warfare 2

I don't see how they could possibly have been "insubordinate" when they basically had the freedom to pursue whatever they wanted after MW2. Again, it seems like "insubordination" is just a made up reason in order to avoid paying West and Zampella their share. This also seems like motive for Kotick to act in the way that he did. He hates any developer who isn't kept on a short leash. The thought of having a team with complete creative freedom was probably unacceptable to him, MOU or no MOU.

From Page 10:

West and Zampella were interrogated for over six hours in a windowless conference room; Activision investigators brought other Infinity Ward employees to tears in their questioning and accusations and threatened West and Zampella with "insubordination" [an offence that constitutes immediate termination] if they attempted to console them

This one was already mentioned on page 2 of this thread, but I wanted to throw it in again. Assuming that this isn't dramatized in any way, this is pretty sickening stuff.

Also from Page 10:

Activision's outside counsel demanded that West and Zampella surrender their personal computers, phones, and communication devices to Activision for review by Activision's outside counsel, and when West and Zampella asserted their legally protected privacy rights, Activision's counsel said that doing so constituted further acts [of] insubordination

Again, pretty sickening. I suppose it's hard to create bogus accusations against innocent people without some raw material to work with.
