[Official] Yakuza 3

If you like Fable you'll get on alright with Yakuza, just depends if the Yakuza interests you and of course japanese culture. It is a lot longer and more story driven than Fable too, even if you just stick to the main story. The recap videos are not that bad, yeah they're a little small but it is better than them stretching it and making it look like a complete mess.

Well if my dream is to live in Japan I think I'll be fine with the culture in the game :p

The only thing I have seen so far which I don't like the look of is the karaoke parts, which I hope are optional? But to me it seems like the Japanese take on GTA, but it does it pretty well instead of other cookie cutter clones.

It is open a bit like GTA but nothing on the scale of GTA's worlds. It has 99 side missions so there is plenty to keep you going.

The karaoke parts are completely optional, mainly a place to take various dates to throughout the game and that is still optional, you can take the dates to a nice romantic darts game if you fancy.

I think for the price it is definitely worth a try. There will be something there for you to like.

The flicking the cigarette into the enemies eye then smacking them special move is awesome laugh.gif

Just completed the game, awesome (Y) :D

Didn't want to sink all the time needed into the side stuff just before the ending, completed the game and now I'll load up Adventure mode and do the stuff I still need to.

Japanese voice acting is leaps and bounds over American, it's pretty shocking how badly so many of the English games get voiced.

PS3 was left running quite a bit with game on pause for play time :p But I still spent a large chunk of that time playing.

I overwrote my clear save game file last night in adventure mode... I clearly didn't read the instructions right, now I need to complete the game again from my last save point. Don't touch your clear save game file.

You can go to Bar Serena and you talk to date i think and he will create a new one for you. You can also talk to someone at the orphanage too i think.

A new save game clear file? You sure?

Wonder how it knows you completed the game/your stats if you saved over it.

However if you're right, thanks a lot, saved me a decent bit of time :)

In adventure mode, it knows all you stats because they get carried over to adventure mode. I think it is so if you get further in adventure mode by doing sub stories and getting a higher level, new moves etc. You can create a new clear data file and start a new game plus mode with the newly acquired levels from adventure mode.

Ahhh that makes sense, I'll try it later today.

Changed over to my 320GB drive in the last few days, I actually thought oh **** bet the Yakuza 3 save file is protected. But as it stands if you backup to a USB hard drive and restore to the same PS3 at least, locked save files copy over (Demons Souls worked and I know it's locked).

The 320GB was in my old fat PS3 I gave to my parents, thought I'd just stick with 120GB in my Slim, but I was running low on space with PlayTV recordings and game content.

Just want to say, my copy finally arrived today! Thank you Zavvi and your low low low prices :D.

I wanted a quick go before doing some Uni work however I was annoyed to see the game required a 5GB install before playing. Yes, I know this is rather common amongst PS3 games, was just miffed because I wanted to play it quickly! (Also took ages!).

Anyway, nice start to the game, a lot going on already. It was nice to finally have a tutorial on how to fight so I am pretty good at that now, the demo didn't even bother which was stupid, that put you straight into a fight! :|

I can see myself enjoying the game but I do need to give it some more play but that possibly won't be until after I finish Uni!

The install is most likely because this game came out in 2008, that's how long fan begging it took Sega to port it pinch.gif

Oh, that sucks!

The game also came with the Soundtrack on CD and some bonus content which I apparently can't use until I complete the game anyway

It says on the back is does 1080p but my monitor was saying it was 720p input and my monitor was upscaling it to 1080p :( Oh well, game doesn't look too bad. The character models are good.

I'm playing it now. It's fun but the story starts out really slow. Can't we just torch the orphanage? I bought this game to smash people's faces in not to take care of a bunch of kids :p

I started this last night, and my god....the cut scenes are on par with MGS4 or worse.

I think I spent 5 mins playing and the rest of the time watching cut scenes or reading text. That was the best part of an hour as well.

Really hope it picks up soon.
