Master Shake
MW2 - NO. Try GTA IV, Little Big Planet, Heavy Rain, Flower, MAG, InFamous.
Alladaskill17
MW2 - Yes. It is worth the money if you have Xbox live. Good single player as well.

lothodon
mw2 is WAY too short if your purchasing for the single player. beat it in under 7 hours. it was fun, but as a single player gamer, not worth the little i paid for it. ratchet and clank a crack in time was a LOT of fun (i'm 40 btw) and not as kiddie as i thought it would be. dante's inferno was worth two full playthroughs for me, that has only happened on a short list of games, uncharted 2 and infamous are the only other's i've played through twice. brutal legend is really nothing at all like the demo (sadly), and it's a strategy game at heart. there was no element of the strategy portion of it in the demo at all. borderlands was fun, although it took a few hours to get used to the controls (driving was odd to me) and it's not something one can sit and play for 20 minutes at a pop and get anywhere. for a cheap (priced) throwback there is the god of war collection, which translates to the ps3 very well imo. VERY good game for those that didn't play them on ps2 and are looking forward to part 3.
Riffz
I agree with lothodon, InFamous was great and gives a lot of replay value. I am playing through Heavy Rain right now, and it has a very immersive story that is quite long. Lastly you can't go wrong with uncharted 1/2! red.
If you're like me, you'll pick up older games like Oblivion GOTY edition just because it's less than a tenner
spacer
Deeemoooooonsssss Sooooouuuuuullllsssss! You missed :p Uncharted 1 and 2 were great. Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time was also pretty good. But if I were you, I'd just save up my money and wait 2 more weeks and get God of War 3.
Icarus ^i^
Apart from the obvious recommendations already posted... Darksiders! A gamer's game that borrows heavily from old school Zelda.. love it :) oh, and there's a massive demo out on PSN.
rajputwarrior
MW2 ftw my friend. Uncharted 2 if you don't have that already If you like FPS, go for Bad Company 2 all those are solid suggestions. GoW collection is great too. Final Fantasy comes out in a few days if you can wait?

Massiveterra
Heavy Rain probably has the least replay value of any game but seriously, if you're a ps3 owner and haven't played uncharted 2 whether you like the first one or not, you're doing yourself a disservice
Nick H. Supervisor Posted March 6, 2010 Supervisor Share Posted March 6, 2010 I'm in the same boat. I've got some money saved up and have realised that I can either buy a brand new game, or get about 4-5 titles that are a bit older. I think I've settled on getting a new game, but I'm torn between Assassin's Creeds 2 and Heavy Rain. I played the Heavy Rain 2 demo last night and was surprised at how quickly it grabbed me, but I think AC2 will have more replay value as well as having the multiplayer option in the DLC coming up. Choices, choices. As far as MW2 goes, I've had it a while and it still seems to be the most played of my games at the moment. Yes, the singleplayer is very short, but the Special Ops section as well as the multiplayer make it addictive. That said, if you've got MW then you might want to spend your money on something else. Replay value of Assassins Creed II is nada. Finished collecting all the feathers and the stuff for the house and now there's very little to do. I hurt myself playing Street Fighter IV with my XBox 360 controller (Battle scars FTL, but I unlocked Sakura!). Going to try Dead Rising soon, once I get my work sorted out. Try Bayonetta for ridiculous voice overs and stupid cut scenes.

Finished collecting all the feathers and the stuff for the house and now there's very little to do. I don't know, I've noticed some new chapters in the form of DLC which could keep me going, and like I said there are also the plans for multiplayer. Both of those options would increase the game's life for me over Heavy Rain, which I can imagine just being the game you get on the disc and nothing more. Singh400
Having just got a PS3 myself, I?ve been searching for some good games to play too. So far my list is composed of:- Heavenly Sword Uncharted: Drake?s Fortune Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Bayonetta I already own God of War: Collection and Heavy Rain - and I've got God of War III on pre-order (Y)

LingeringSoul
It's not a 2009 game (it's September 2008) but WipEout HD is worth looking at if you're into WipEout games or fast-paced racing games in general. I've put a lot of hours in that one (probably more hours than any other PS3 game I have), and that was before buying the Fury expansion (which did come out in 2009 :)). It's $20 USD for the game itself and $10 USD for the Fury expansion, and it's only available on the PSN store (no physical box). And of course, Uncharted 2. Already stated in this thread, but worth repeating :). I bought Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time and inFamous, but I haven't played either yet, so unfortunately I can't say anything regarding those. Singh400
No, don't get Heavenly Sword Yeah that isn't a valid reason. Is it crap? Too short? Too long? Boring? Terrible controls? Exactly what is wrong with it, seems a lot like God of War series to me, so naturally it is on my to-buy list, well for now at least.

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted March 6, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted March 6, 2010 Heavenly Sword is a short game, but if you can get it real cheap, it's worth a play through.
lothodon
i find heavenly sword to be an interesting title. i loved god of war 1 and 2, and dante's inferno, but i could not get into heavenly sword enough to get anywhere with it. the qte had such a ridiculously small window or had to be memorized over many failed attempts i stopped playing it at the first boss on four separate attempts.
