shockz
Hey I just updated Windows XP for the Sercurity Plug and Play patch. Everything went good until I restarted. The next time i used it - my start menu, taskbar, system restore, dial up networking, etc... froze. I know it is the patch b/c i clean installed windows (again) and downloaded the patch again. The same thing occured. Does anyone know why this is happening. Is there a way I could fix it??? Thanks
icie
I'm not sure. But if you have no use for that network plug and play stuff, disable/uninstall it from your network connections, before updating? Are you using the legit ver of Winxp? Illegit vers might have problems as well.

icie
disable universal plug and play, then you wouldn't have to patch. Do the following: From Lockergnome: Right-click My Computer | Manage | Services and Applications | Services. Then, right-click Universal Plug and Play | Properties | Startup type: Disabled Might play around a bit with gpedit.msc as well to see if its in there too. Or is it the same thing? n/m. just disable it. I don't use it as well.
