Mini is driving me mad

Recommended Posts

My main computer is a g4 mac mini, which although now starting to show it's age is generally fine for what I need it for; the Internet and accessing my iTunes library. Now because it's hooked up to my tv, I simply use Air Mouse on my iPhone or ipod touch (whichever has better battery) for the keyboard and mouse. This is works fine.

Up until now, it's driving mental. Every now and then when I'm in safari, I click a link and it downloads it to the desktop instead of visiting it as normal. Which is annoying, after pressing around on the keypad it'll usually work as normal again, after I've hit the shift key. Then I go to another app, and safari dissapears and I only have the selected app on screen - nothing else behind it.

Ok, they sound like nothing but they really are doing my head in. Any help/tips appreciated.

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok, two weeks on and this problem is still doing my head in. It's making really simple tasks such as listening to music in iTunes and using safari stressfull as he'll as it's taking so many attempts and time to do what I want to do.

When Im using Air Mouse, I try to keep the keyboard hidden so I don't inadvertantly press a key. God forbid if I actually need the keyboard..if I so much as breathe anywhere near shift, alt, or the apple key everything starts to drive me insane again. I looked into air mouse alternatives but none look any better.

Ive even just used the iPod touch for the mouse and iPhone for keyboard - but that wasn't much good either.

I'm considering wiping the mac clean, getting a decent Bluetooth mouse (I did have one, but it was nearly as tempremental as mr air mouse), and using it purely for my iTunes library, and get a MacBook for general usage.

But until then...any ideas?
