rajputwarrior
I can't count how many times I've played through MGS2... neither can i, yeah being raiden most of the time kinda sucked, but it was an AMAZING game
jshimmy3
Fable, hm? I don't know what was expected leading up to its release, but I played through the game and enjoyed it. :P
ienhz
Hah, Lair. Still remember those dark days of the PS3. Singlehandedly taking down developers. I agree MGS2 was a huge disappointment but it's nowhere near the top 10 IMO.
Sethos
I can't count how many times I've played through MGS2... Me neither, I was completing that game in one sitting when I was bored - I just wanted the Wig / Bandana and the Stealth plus the story was great in my opinion. sanctified Veteran Posted March 6, 2010 Veteran Share Posted March 6, 2010 MGS2 was a huge disappointment for sexually insecure fans that couldnt tolerate playing a less macho character. It's one of the best games ever made, analyzed even on art circles. LingeringSoul 1 Share

LingeringSoul
MGS2 was a huge disappointment for sexually insecure fans that couldnt tolerate playing a less macho character. It's one of the best games ever made, analyzed even on art circles. Nice :). I completed that game multiple times over, and I loved it every time. I kept trying to defend it against all of the people who just wanted to play as Snake, but after a while I realized it was a lost cause. They were determined to hate the game for that one reason. Apart from that, I think it's a pretty decent list. Like Ayepecks said, "disappointing" doesn't necessarily mean "bad". My brother poured hours upon hours into Star Wars Galaxies, but there's no denying that the game was a disappointment when you look at everything that it had to live up to. As for my disappointing games, I'll go ahead and mention Modern Warfare 2. For the record, I still think it's a good game, and I don't regret the 12-15 hours that I put into it, but in my humble opinion, Call of Duty 4 is one of the best FPS games of the past decade (just look at all of the multiplayer games that have borrowed ideas from CoD4), and that's where the disappointment comes in. I was probably going to be disappointed with the game no matter what, just because of my unrealistic expectations, but I wasn't prepared for a game that's actually worse than its predecessor. MightyJordan
I saw the video a few days ago, but I'll add my opinion into the pool: Star Wars: Galaxies: Never played this game, so I can't really comment on this one. Daikatana: Never played this game either. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty: I got this as soon as it came out (still have it today), as I loved the first MGS, and I didn't really mind playing most of the game as Raiden. But admittedly, back then, I wasn't really into the story, but nowadays, I look back on it, and I definitely see it as a bit of a disappointment, but not one of the ten biggest disappointments of the decade. Devil May Cry 2: I for the life of me can not remember which DMC games I've played outside of DMC4. I might have played this, I'm not sure. I definitely played the first or second one, and I'm almost certain I never played the third. Anyway, if people saw DMC2 as a disappointing follow-up, they need to remember that when you strip it all back (same with God of War, Bayonetta, Dante's Inferno, Heavenly Sword, Genji, etc.), it's just a hack-and-slash game, and you can't really improve on that. Fable: I haven't played this one either, but I do own Fable II on the 360, but unfortunately, I ran into a glitch that effectively stopped me from progressing any further in the story. Perfect Dark Zero: I got this a few months after the 360 came out, and I really like it. I like the single player mode, I like the multiplayer modes, but I love the soundtrack! Doom 3: OK, it's fairly average, but I wouldn't call it a disappointment, purely on the basis that it has scared the bejesus out of me on many occasions! Lair: Never played this one. Sonic the Hedgehog: Played the demo, and I didn't really like it. I want to see the series return to the Sonic Adventure games on the Dreamcast. State of Emergency: Played it, got bored of it fairly quickly, but I wasn't clued up on Rockstar back then, so I didn't know it was considered a disappointment, but I probably would say it is now. +jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted March 7, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted March 7, 2010 Devil May Cry 2 was a poor game because it was slow and very quiet, but it did create lots of innovations that have been used in later games. So in effect it was a platform and a 'what not to do' for future games. Fumbles like this eventually lead to gems like Bayonetta. So I'm kinda happy it was released for that reason. Icarus ^i^
I have such mixed feelings about SWG :p the hologrind followed by CU lead to a massive cluster**** but at the same time, I've never enjoyed a mmorpg (or any other game tbh) as much as swg in the beginning.. that community is the best I've ever been part of... except that bountyhunter who never gave me a moment of peace.
