Such as writing, painting, singing etc. Thanks ...thats understandable now. the text goes this way ... Researchers have found that creative expression,if not fettered by associated production quotas, can help to lower stress and ease anxiety. I am stuck with the meaning of "production quotas" in this context.....what is this ? Do you get it ? Not able to find a proper meaning which fit here in google. Can you please elaborate this ? Kerm
It's referring to being expected to create a certain quantity or quality of work in a given time. Deadlines basically.

Deep_Level_Shark
It's referring to being expected to create a certain quantity or quality of work in a given time. Deadlines basically. umm.... can I say this is as similar to one needs to build say 5 milk-bottles per hour in a factory ...is this called 'production quota' ? but one thing I am worried how can I connect this meaning to the original context here . Does that trying to say that if creative expressions are not restricted by a fixed timeframe then thats becomes stress and anxiety free .....is this right ? They're trying to say that creative expression not motivated by actual work in the workplace, can help lower stress and ease anxiety. Like sharing chocolates at work for the Holidays or sharing greeting cards.

kjx
I'm pretty much convinced that you are trying to get your homework done for you, but I'm feeling generous right now, so here's what it means: Creative expression is not something that produces an output at a stable rate, as opposed to producing something from a predefined template. Imagine you are trying to create a painting from a constructed mental picture. It is not guaranteed that you can complete a good piece within a certain duration of time. If you are feeling inspired, it might just take you a few minutes. If you are drained and bored, it might take you days. But what if you were painting for a living? And each painting sold for say $200. And you need $1000 to make ends meet each month. Whether you like it or not, you will need to produce 5 good paintings in a month ("production quota"). Even if you are drained and cannot summon any inspiration. In such a situation, you start worrying about what would happen if you are not able to somehow make those 5 paintings. You start getting stressed and you stop enjoying your work. Creativity comes out best from a relaxed person most of the time. And this just goes to make the situation worse. I hope you get where I'm going with this... Do the rest yourself.
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted March 10, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted March 10, 2010 I think the OP just has pretty poor English skills (I'm just being honest, don't get offended!) and needs a bit of help understanding. I don't mind offering what I know, I was an A-Level English Lang student. :[ Not exactly top of the world, but it got me quite far.

Derick Wade Grover
Are you always so easily annoyed/irritated by such simple trivialities? Do you suffer from Depression? Or more likely, Narcissistic Personality Disorder? Perhaps some sort of creative expression might help that out of proportion hostility lessen. Waht is creative expression anyway? Huh? Do you know? Can you tell me? Huh? How 'bout production quota? Does that have anything to do with setting a goal of masturbating atleast 5 different strangers a day? Huh? Does it? Do you know? other's can not annoy us. We allow ourselves to be annoyed. Otherwise we are admitting that another has power over our emotions/reactions.
