newbie2k2
How can you forward ports in wind xp? Specifically, I am running emule and keep getting low ID's as I'm running the client on a computer which is on the network, but not connected to the internet directly, so port 4661 is unreachable. Thanks for reading.
Arch
If you're running this network off of a router then it will most likely have an internal port forwarding feature. Just log in to it (the router) how you normally would, and then map the port to your internal IP (usually 192.168.0.x). If you're running the network off of an XP machine, then I'm not sure how to do it. Do a search on google for port mapping or something of the like. I was never able to find information on it though, but that was a few years ago. I'm almost certain it is possible in linux, so if you were to switch to it it would be better, and possibly more secure, if you're worried about that sorta stuff. OPaul
You can either use WinXP built firewall or SpoonProxy to forward ports. http://www.pi-soft.com/spoonproxy/
