XBOX 360 or PS3?

Recommended Posts

Ok...new here...Been trying to find a place to ask a question that intelligent folks could answer...

I have been a PC gamer for a while and play WoW mostly now, but my PC is kinda old and I want to play other games without having to go buy em...I would rather just borrow from friends that have beaten them and I don't know anyone that really is a PC gamer so I want to get a console and am trying to decide between XBOX 360 and PS3? Any suggestions?

If you are wanting to borrow games from your friends I would choose the platform they own. Especially when online comes in, Its more fun to play online with friends then complete randomers.

Eh? Is this some sort of elitist forum that I was unaware of?

No idea where you got that from.

Basically - posing any "platform A vs. platform B" question will quickly result in a pointless and flamey thread. It is a pointless question to start with considering both platforms have differing features. It all depends on what you want out of your console etc. Nobody can tell you which one is "best".

There's war going on about which console's better (actually pretty much anywhere you go). You'll find half of the community will say PS3 and another half 360. It boils down to what you can afford and what favorite games are available on those consoles.

+1 best to look at what more of your friends have be it the 360 or ps3 and just get that one.

+1 on this, couldn't agree more. Doesn't matter which one you get. Its best to go with whichever firends you are going to be playing online with.

Let me save you a lot of time ;)

tell me where do you live and your average monthly budget for gaming

I agree with the friends recommendation. This is the reason why I play the xbox 360 more. Because at any time of the day, whether it's 7am or 3am, there is a minimum of 5 friends online. I can't say the same about my psn account.

BUT... if you are primarily a single-player gamer, I would really recommend the ps3. The platform really trumps the 360 as far as its exclusive single-player library, and you can play outstanding single player 360 games for the pc

Was a joke though

I know that, but we both know that someone is going to come along and take it seriously ;)

Yup, that is the best advice.

I find the console flame wars have died down.

Save yourself the flame party. Buy both laugh.gif

+1.

Where has the OP been the last five years? There have always been marks on both sides vehemently detailing why their side is better than the other. Take a look through both the MS and Sony console subforums and look at the games and discussion that takes place there. There might be a couple of names you see repeatedly in the OP column.

I would go with OnLive rofl.gif

Dreamcast FTW. Oh wait, what year is it? OnLive I feel is before it's time, not because the tech isn't there, but because companies haven't found the proper ways to use this format to get their monies out of us.

Seriously I'm suprised this isn't more active, the title itself is pure flamebait.

What he said lol. Best recommendation as its the best of "all the worlds".

I really think if OnLive works the way its suppose to, it will be a GREAT service. Do I see myself adopting into it? Probably not. Will I try it / use it? Probably. But im a PC Gamer at Heart and I love computers so my PC will always be up to snuff with all the games I play. Hell BC2 gets me 32FPS Average @1080 all High. Once i get my Fermi this summer ill RAPE all games, so im not too worried about my PC.

But will I recommend OnLive for friends? Hell Yeah. Show them the benefits of PC Gaming, but will I go to there "Console Adoption" kit with the receiver and controller to hook it up to your TV, no. I hate controllers as it is lol. I like controllers for sports/racing. Everything else Keyboard/Mouse.

Anyway, for you, I would recommending getting whatever most of your friends have because if you plan on borrowing games, you might want the console they have. If you plan on renting still look at what your buddies have. Like stated its nice to see "5 people online, 10 people online" instead of 1/2.

It all breaks down to what your friends have and where you wanna go from there.

1. See which game library satisfies your needs more

2. Determine if you want to watch Blu-ray movies or DVD movies

3. Do you want to pay $35 a year for XBL or do you want free PSN

4. Which consoles do your friends have/use most

5. Do you care about the NATAL or PS Motion, or have a preference for either?

I have all the consoles, though I play my 360 more.

I've got both as I couldn't make up my mind which one to get, out of the two of them the xbox 360 gets the most use. At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference.
