0 Pajter
I prefer this one: http://wpaudioplayer.com/standalone It's flash/javascript based. Works like a charm and is skinable. :)

0 cabron
Thanks Pajter, let see if that can play well the wav audio file. It's a 12mb audio file :(
0 Berserk87
A little bit off topic but... Why do you want to embed audio into your website??? I've only seen it work well for background music or effects on certain website such as starcraft or crysis. And a 12mb audio clip is wayyyy to much. 0 hdood
Thanks Pajter, let see if that can play well the wav audio file. It's a 12mb audio file :( You should seriously consider re-encoding it as MP3. You'll save a lot of space and bandwidth and it will be a much better experience for the user. 0 cyrl
Thanks Pajter, let see if that can play well the wav audio file. It's a 12mb audio file :( I'd suggest you reduce the size of the audio file as others said cause 12mb is way to much try reducing the bit rate and convert it to mp3:) And to what type of a website are you trying to embed this audio file into? is it a wordpress blog? 0 cabron
Well I am doing a website for my boss and his business and he wants audio for the main page of the site. The business sell different type of appliances for the kitchen and the restaurant, so the audio is basically the sound of someone cooking something. He bought the audio file on istockphoto.com

He bought the audio file on istockphoto.com Ewww.... maybe if it was for an musician, or a game or something where people are expecting it but a sales site? Horrible. If you *must* do it then make sure there is a clear way to turn it off. Also make it quite so if they are listening to music or something else it wont annoy the user too much. However as a site designer your job isn't merely to do what asked, but you should also advise clients, in this instance, advise them not to do it. He bought the audio file on istockphoto.com That sounds horrendous, show him this thread or any thread on any site regarding embedded sounds and hopefully he'll change his mind! Failing that, do as he asks and track the sites usage then point point out the amount of users who leave the site at the exact point the sound starts... either way he'll get the picture! 0 hdood
Well, if there's a header or something at the top of the page, make sure to put a mute icon there. Most sites with sound have this. Exactly how you'd implement it depends on which mp3 player you choose for the site. Most people do find sound extremely annoying, especially if it has no relevance to the content. In your case it doesn't seem to (unless it's just on a splash screen). I think this would be an acceptable compromise that your client wouldn't mind. 0 code_ninja
You will need to encode the wav file to mp3. http://www.mediacoderhq.com/ - MediaCoder is a free, universal media transcoder. And embed it. http://www.varal.org/media/niftyplayer/ - Free, open source player. So, if you don't like the interface, you can change it, make it smaller, etc. That's what I would use. Good luck. 0 sweetsam
If you have to do it then I would set it to muted by default with a delayed fadeout tool tip informing the visitor that there is audio on this site and it can be turned on by clicking here. If you are interested you can monitor how many people turn on the music and if they turn it off.
