Fred Derf Veteran Posted March 14, 2010 Veteran Share Posted March 14, 2010 Vaccine preservative not to blame for autism: judge Long dispute ends, with judge ruling families deserve ?sympathy and admiration' but no financial compensation Randolphe Schmid Washington ? The Associated Press Published on Friday, Mar. 12, 2010 6:22PM EST The vaccine additive thimerosal is not to blame for autism, a special federal court ruled Friday in a long-running battle by parents convinced there us a connection. While expressing sympathy for the parents involved in the emotionally charged cases, the court concluded they had failed to show a connection between the mercury-containing preservative and autism. ?Such families must cope every day with tremendous challenges in caring for their autistic children, and all are deserving of sympathy and admiration,? special master George Hastings Jr., wrote. But, he added, Congress designed the victim compensation program only for families whose injuries or deaths can be shown to be linked to a vaccine and that has not been done in this case. The ruling came in the so-called vaccine court, a special branch of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims established to handle claims of injury from vaccines. It can be appealed in federal court. Friday's decision that autism is not caused by thimerosal alone follows a parallel ruling in 2009 that autism is not caused by the combination of vaccines with thimerosal and other vaccines. The new ruling was welcomed by Dr. Paul Offit of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, who said the autism theory had ?already had its day in science court and failed to hold up.? ... http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/technology/science/vaccine-preservative-not-to-blame-for-autism-judge/article1499269/
Nightwind Hawk
Scientists and doctors are saying there is a connection. A judge ruling ends the controversy?? I don't ****ing think so. They are not doctors, scientists, or anybody qualified enough to answer that.

The judge ruled based on the evidence given.

The Rev
This type of **** burns me up.... Honestly, I get that parents would rather have a "normal" child.... but just because he/she is not normal, doesn't mean you are entitled to MONEY.... I blame lawyers and parents for being greedy. Just because you THINK theres a connection between vaccines and autism, doesn't make it so.

I don't ****ing think so. They are not doctors, scientists, or anybody qualified enough to answer that. The scientists and doctors that originally said there was a connection (based on only 12 cases) have since retracted their work and dropped their claims yet the myth lives on. s1k3sT
I think the real news here is that there are so many vaccine related court cases that there is a "vaccine court"... This ruling can't change my mind, the judge most likely took huge payoff from vaccine manufactures. It's sad that people are willing to ruing lives just for some cash.

hdood
My daughter have autism and I know something is going on with the vaccines because why autism has been increases a lot in the last 20 years? it feels almost like the flu. Anyone can born with autism. Why do you think it is related to vaccines containing thimerosal, when there is no science to show this? If it actually had increased, wouldn't it be more rational to look for another source? I mean, if there actually is an environmental cause, shouldn't we be working to find that instead so that people can actually be helped? Isn't it counterproductive to make a scapegoat out of thimerosal without any evidence? Does that help anyone? Have you also considered the fact that widespread screening for autism is a fairly new concept, which means the number of people diagnosed will obviously be much higher now? zhangm Supervisor Posted March 14, 2010 Supervisor Share Posted March 14, 2010 Why dont all you people go play with mercury You really have no clue about the biodegradative pathway of thimerosol in the human body, do you? Ethyl mercury gets purged rapidly. Anyway, are you afraid of eating salt? That has sodium and chlorine in it. Sodium is explosive when combined with water, and chlorine is poisonous. Do you think mushrooms are dangerous too? They contain small amounts of hydrazine, after all, which is a component of some rocket fuels. Do you suppose that if you ate enough mushrooms, you could blast off into orbit? hdood and Fred Derf 2 Share
