AJC.
Hey guys, I have been looking at some games on Steam. There are two games that I want but I can only get one and Im not sure which is better for me. The two games are GTA IV and Borderlands. One costs more then the other but Im looking for a game that I can do anything in. I am an FPS gamer but the 3rdPS games are good too. The thing that I don't like about Borderlands is the RPG part and the thing I don't like about GTA IV is the hard drive space it takes up. So I would love to hear your opinion on it. Which should I be more intersted in getting?
+Mystic MVC Posted March 14, 2010 MVC Share Posted March 14, 2010 While I do love Borderlands because I played the entire game co-op with a friend, GTA IV will offer more hours of unique fun (less "grinding"). Don't let hard drive space deter you from picking the better game. We can only offer you opinions, but your last sentence confuses me "which should I be more interested in getting". It is like we are making the choice for you, when in the end it is what interests YOU not us. :p

Xilo
I wouldn't get either. I find both of them to be boring...
bjoswald
If I have to pick between those two, I suggest GTA 4. Borderlands is boring and pointless. When you get sick of doing the missions in GTA 4, you can at least run amok in the city. ;)

rajputwarrior
360 version of gtaIV was amazing... spent a stupid amount of hours playing that games. 80-90 hours easy into that game and there was still tons left. Also i haven't even touched the DLC episodes yet...
Smigit
I don't know...IMHO GTA is the duller of the two. The story never pulled me in and gameplay itself wasn't all that fun really. The game worlds so static that while you can "drive around killing people" I find that gets dull very quick as it's always the same thing. Certainly I wouldn't say the game lets you do anything you want...neither will...they're both pretty restrictive in this regard. At least Borderlands has a multiplayer component. Not perfect...but it does add to the game and overall I've had more fun playing Borderlands than GTA4. Also the RPG element of borderlands isn't that particularly strong and up to the point I got in the game i was always doing missions...not mindlessly walking around killing mobs. Also how much Hard disk space do you have if you are concerned about GTA's install size? Unless it's the dload specifically thats putting you off I hope your system is fairly capable and the possible lack of HDD space isn't indicative of an older rig as I hear its a pretty demanding game. Maybe someone else can verify that but I thought that at least originally people were having trouble getting the PC port to run overly smooth. Just my opinion. As a FPS fan maybe you could check out Bad Company 2 also.
AltecXP
GTA4, personally I hate Borderlands.
AJC.
GTA4 does have online multiplayer and I already got it today, so far it took 3 hours to download and now I'm just fixing the video options. Everything should be working by tomorrow. By the way, I already own BC2 and it's awesome, if anyone wants to add me my name is in the sig.
solardog
Borderlands is good at first and then becomes unbelievable boring in its game play and the environment. Visually its about the most 1 dimensional games Ive ever played.

giantpotato
Holy crap, I just looked at my steam stats and I've put 300 hours into GTA IV since christmas. Best $7.49 I've ever spent. I'm aiming to get to 100% complete game status. I haven't even touched multiplayer yet.

I managed to only get around 26 hours to complete the whole storyline and a majority of the side missions. You must really enjoy playing in New York Ci... I mean Liberty City. StudioFortress
The RPG elements in Borderlands aren't very strong and the game is pretty 1 dimensional, but it's still fun. It just won't blow you away. I'd describe it as a very well made, but very weak game.
