Ubisoft's site hacked by pirates

Ubi asked for it, the new DRM stinks. i wonder how much money was wasted creating that DRM, that does nothing.

 Yeah, that's too bad. Imagine all that money helping Haiti's people.

Win.

Also, could someone update me on the "bad" DRM? I haven't bought from Ubisuck in a while.

You're required to have a high speed internet connection to play some of their new games. Assassins Creed II, Ruse, and a few others. The games are constantly connected to Ubisoft servers to make sure your game is legit. If the servers go down, you guessed it, you can't play your single player offline game. Not only that but if the servers go down while you're playing, you get booted out of your game and can't play it until the servers are back online again. In a single player game like ACII it's just not needed. The big question everyone is asking is what happens in a year or two when Ubisoft stops supporting these games? Do we lose the ability to play them or what? So Ubisoft is basically renting you games at full price right now, for all we know.

I probably did a horrible job of explaining it.

Personally, I think Ubisoft doesn't have a leg to stand on here, with games like Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Origins, and Fallout 3 all being pretty much DRM free other than a dvd check. And they sold tons, so they just prove that if you make a good game people will buy it. This form of DRM is even more pointless than most others.

I've been looking forward to and wanting to buy Assassins Creed II for the pc, even at the inflated price for a while now, but I won't as long as it has this drm attached to it.

Good Job Skidrow. Ive seen them posting about how Ubi deserves it and they did it. Im happy they did.

I hope UBI finally realizes there DRM is BS and they need to patch it. For online games its "understandable" at best, but for a single player game like AC where your charging people $60 from the get go, take off the DRM.

Guess it was easier to hack their website than to crack teh game huh ?

The reason they hacked ubisoft servers is to grab some important files needed to progress in the game. They say they can make working crack using those files. I am on 3UK dongle internet and have a bandwidth of 1 GB per month. So I am waiting for the crack to come out.

I was going to return the game yesterday. But when I saw this news, I am happy.

No marks for guessing which company's games I am gonna avoid in future ! :)
