Depends on if you play online - you could play the Call of Duty and Battlefield type games online forever.

Otherwise, games like GTA, Prototype, Infamous...etc - decent length story and lots to do outside the main quests. You can also run around for hours collecting and killing stuff.

I don't think there are any "unlimited gameplay" games, whats the point in that. The game must end at some point.

Games mentioned above are great for about 40+ hours some plenty more depending on doing every little side quest/mission. But all games end at some point.

Oblivion offers loads of hours so i've heard (some people saying 150+). Came out a couple of years ago so you should be able to get the GOTY edition pretty cheaply.

Other than that, strategy games should offer a lot of replay value because you can just set up loads of skirmish missions. Something like Civilization.

I think he means more sandbox style games in that there is more to do than the main story, and even after all missions/side quests are complete you can still go around the game world and do things. Not like MW2 (single-player) where after you finish the main mission and challenges all you can really do is go back and re-play a specific section of the game.
