Guy uses a 'Free PS3' fraudulent coupon to get a free PS3

Recommended Posts

I used the free Xbox controller one like 4 months ago at a local Wal-Mart. The next day they had it posted everywhere citing not to take it. I can't believe someone could actually get away with a PS3 though.

Well,

There is porn and humor. Everyone enjoys that.

If you are a racist, more humor. Sexist? More humor...

Horribly disgusting body mutilation, etc is also prominent. Always keeps you asking "How is that possible?"

Etc.

As for 4chan in general,

All other boards are really good. I visit w most frequently.

There's better sites for porn and humor.

I hope the coupons work internationally (would have to problably change the language)

Nice find/post :)

Have fun in court. Earn your money.

Since when was ignorance an acceptable excuse?

Since they started writing laws in a completely different language? Screw legalese, just another way to screw over the average person...

It's all fun and games until you get caught using fake coupons. Guess what? That's some jail time and fines if you're caught.

You do know that this (stealing a PS3) is the SAME thing as downloading (stealing) a movie or downloading (stealing) music right?

Think about that.

I'm not even going to bother replying to this.

Why? Consider it like this:

(This is simple terms)

A digital file is made out of 1s and 0s.

A object is made out of atoms.

You are stealing 1s and 0s vs atoms. Again you are bothing stealing even though one might be considered stealing and the other fraud.

I, BTW, do not believe that stealing is correct. I believe it is incorrect and morally not acceptable. I am not saying you should (or should not) steal. I believe all theifs should pay the punishment. If you are willing to do the crime, then do the time.

First give me a reply debating what I said then Ill "try harder".

Stealing is a taking away physical property without the consent of the owner. This is a physical loss because the owner no longer has the property and wasn't compensated for it.

Downloading songs, movies, etc is using energy from your electric company to power your computer to allow you to connect to the Internet so you can copy the 1's and 0's that make up the file.

They aren't even atoms. They are electrons by the way. Those electrons come from the electricity powering everything.

No, he's absolutely correct.

Theft = obtaining products or services without legally paying for said products or services, or obtaining said products or services in a fraudulent or illegal manner...

...or, don't you get it?

When you download pirated software or movies or music, you *are* stealing. Black and White, no grey area.

What ever happened to Civics classes in school? Oh, I know....they substituted it with classes on how to put a condom on.

Now we know why America is going to hell in a handbaskett!

No I think stealing is when they charge $40+ for a Blu-Ray movie, now that's stealing. It's the same principle as if they one day decided to charge $1000 a month for water because they know people need it so they extort people into paying for it. Same thing with movies and music. Bottom line, people will buy good music and movies and will download the ones that they would have never paid for anyways. I think you're too old to understand so why don't you leave it up to others that do get it, champ.

Those atoms are deposited onto a storage medium of some kind:

Hard Drive - change in magnetism & resistance of a pattern of 1's and 0's deposited onto a magnetic disk

Optical Disc - Lasers burn holes or divvots onto / into a storage medium.

Memory (Flash, etc) - 1's and 0's are written to the device and energy changes are made in transistors.

In essence, bits *are* physical, just like electrons are physical.

Jesus christ. Why the !#@$ can we just not admit that piracy is wrong? If you do it, just admit it to yourself and get the !@#$ over it. I am getting SO sick of watching people bitch back and forth about "Ooooh, but this isn't technically stealing, see, because that makes me feel all guilty and stuff, so I'm going to go on and on about wordplay to sound intelligent". Sure, stealing copying a bunch of bytes may not be the same thing as stealing something physical, but DOES THAT MAKE IT ANY MORE MORAL AND ETHICAL?

Goddamn. Get the hell over it.

There is no point I'm trying to make, I don't care what you call piracy as or what you think it consists of long as you accept it's wrong, I don't give a flying !@#$ if you think its stealing, why don't you just get it into your heads that people who say "piracy is stealing" are just trying to explain their moral opinion on the ethics of piracy, and stop taking it so effing literally??

Here, for those of you who see thsi post as nothing more than "I'm going to keep arguing with you because I think I know what you're saying", let me put it in simple words; if you pirate, admit it, or at least, if not publicly, just admit to yourself. If you don't, STOP going on and on and on about how piracy isn't stealing, at the end of the day, no one gives a damn about the wordplay. It's considered unethical because you're getting something for free that you otherwise would have paid for. That's it. Simply stated. None of this "byte for byte" crap or "Making a copy of the car in the window and taking that is not stealing". I'm not even referring to it as "stealing" because the way this whole bloody forum is, you all seem to take the phrase "piracy is stealing" as some sort of moral offense, so I'm not going to bother using the words "thieving" or "copyright infringement". I'm frankly getting so fed up with this crap.

Kudos to anyone who doesn't give a damn what words you use to describe it, you're the ones that get it and aren't wasting your time.

Oh my god. Don't even try to pull that "I'm going to justify my piracy" bull****. It's so bloody old and reflects poorly on your character as insecure and shallow. Like I said.

Pirate stuff? Just admit it, don't bother trying to justify it, it's pathetic.

"Oh nooo. Mum! Mummy! This Blu-Ray DVD costs too much!"

"I know junior, that's why it's ok for us to download a rip of it instead"

"All right!"

Maybe you're just too young to understand this.

Okay okay calm down! I'm just having some fun with this forum :p The truth is that I do believe piracy is wrong. And I will add a point of mine, I see a lot of people complain about how games/music/movies haven't been up to par but then they go on downloading stuff, well if nobody gets paid then of course nobody will bother creating good content. So you can calm down, I was just trying to get a reaction out of people :) I do have a growing blu ray library and looking into a 3DTV for the world cup this summer, I hear Fox Sports World will start broadcasting in 3D.

That's why we have regulated utilities. There are certain things we need that are monopolistic in nature. As such, it would be very nice for the owner of the water company to charge $1000 a gallon for water as we all need it. The Public Utility Commision (which regulates utilities) wouldn't allow it though as the state has to approve every rate increase (due the the product being a basic need and monopolistic in nature).

You don't NEED BluRay movies to live. You can rent the movie for cheaper or *gasp* not watch it at all. You'll still live and be a functioning member of society... There is also no monopoly on BluRay movies. Any of the movie companies can charge whatever they want and they do. As such, the movie market is competitive and regulates its own prices. Sony Pictures won't charge $500 for a BluRay because they'd end up selling none compared to Universal Studio who wants $40...

So your example falls flat on its face...
