Manual 301 Redirect for DNN

Question

Heya all

I am looking for a way to 301 redirect set pages to thier new pages using whatever means neccesary. Im hoping to do this manualy (for complete control) through a file hosted on the website. From what i have read it looks like it may be possible though the "Global.asax" file however my attempts to get this to work have caused syntax errors.

I dont really want to purchase any third party modules (DNN based website) as i have had problems in the past, a manual solution would be much better.

If anyone could give me some example code or let me know of an easyish way to do this that would be be great.

I look forward to responses / questions.

Ludz~

Moved here.

Also, I've neve rheard of the term 'DNN' before - Googling it reveals it's DotNetNuke. So this is an ASP.NET question. Giving a little more information might help. Whether you have access to the server (if you do, obviously just using the IIS console is the most appropriate way of redirecting files/directories), the version of ASP.NET you're using etc.

DNN is DonNetNuke, its a CMS system.

As the system is run by a CMS the pages do not physicly exist which means i cant re-direct them like i would other pages through IIS, ive looked into multiple ways of trying to get this to work manually via a file with script inside. Most online refs talk about a global.ascx file. I expect this way is correct however i cannot get it to work so an example would be great if anyone out there has resolved this issue before.

Also there are modules for the CMS system that cover this however my previous experience with them has been terrible and i am reluctant to put a module in place for something that im sure can be done manualy.

Any thoughts?

Dave~
