I'm going to cry :(

I see your box of tissues, and I raise it. :p

Oooooh now that's an idea - I have an old G4 cube case that I was going to turn into a fishtank/water feature a while ago but never got around to it.

.....that's it?

I'm sure it looks worse in person, those kinds of things usually do. I would be as devastated as the OP if it happened to me.

I'd be pretty mad myself, my 2 macbook pros never got scratched or damaged in any way the whole time I owned them and I would have been pretty upset if it would have happened

Anybody would be upset at any type of scratch or dent, especially on a MacBook. Plus it lowers the retail value of the MacBook if they ever choose to sell it..

yeah but not by much if everything else is perfectly fine and boots how it should.

That really sucks. You could replace the display. ifixit sell them. But lets be honest here its very exspensive. You could probably recoup some of the cost by reselling your own display on ebay but I doubt you'd get much.

Just be glad it didn't damage any of of the internals to boot.

But I know how you feel. I scratched my iPhones screen shortly after getting it.

And they are hard to scratch, but not when you drop it on concrete and skid on it with full body weight :o

I bought a 13" MBP after the whole debacle I went through trying to buy a MacBook on Neobay (check my post history if you care to know...)

now... guess what I have just done...

I dropped my TV remote control onto my MBP from about ~2ft onto the lid of my MBP......

deneted and scratched... :( all from a TV remote control

Look on the bright side.... at least you didnt damage the LCD screen..... THAT would have been a several hundred dollar mistake.

Just on a side note while we're at it. If you ever break your screen and don't have Apple Care, DO NOT let Apple fix it. They'll probably charge you something like $700 to replace it. You can find replacement screens for about $100 or less on ebay, and then you just have to find someone who is willing to put it in for you. It's really not a hard job. I've replaced several laptop screens and it's just basically taking off the bezel, unscrewing the old one, and putting the new one in. I might charge $200 at the most to do it for someone.

Edit: As for why I say that and mine is broken... it's hooked into a 37" screen. I'm not too worried about it right now, haha.

I'm a PC and non-aluminum lids was my idea.

But seriously. Sorry to hear about your dent, I remember scratching my car for the first time, sucks, but then it doesn't matter :)

Well, I remember when I bought my first PDA, an HP...something, can't remember the model. It had gsm support too, big memory, bla bla, I was extremely happy with it. It cost about 700$ at that time. The next day, I got up from my desk in a hurry and, while I was carrying the PDA in my pocket, I smashed it on the desk's corner. The display was broken, HP wanted about 450$ to replace it, so I end up selling the damn thing for 200$ to a guy who needed it for spare parts.

So...**** happens. :)

It's dented and scratched a little bit?

That's better than smashing the whole screen so you can't see a thing. That's what I did to my fairly new Toshiba laptop last week. Some fool (probably me) had accidently wrapped the ethernet cable round the chair I was sitting on, so when I moved the chair... it pulled the laptop off the desk :/

I didn't cry, but I am gutted. If it's only a dent, surely it'll be easy to live with? At least it won't cost you tonnes of money to be able to use your laptop again like it will me.
