PlayStation Move ad mocks Natal, attacks Nintendo Wii

The PlayStation Move was just announced, but Sony is wasting no time before going on the attack. The newest?not to mention first?advertisement for the peripheral makes fun of the Nintendo Wii, attacks Microsoft's Project Natal, and basically buries the entire message under a thick layer of smarm with a side order of smug.

Yeah, this commercial is pretty much awesome.

We were lucky enough to spend some serious time with the PlayStation Move at GDC this year, and you can read all our thoughts and impressions in our latest gaming feature.

classic Sony. Arrogant and dumb! Although still funny in a way.

Quite funny have to say, however easy to take a stab at Wii for instance that's been doing it for couple of years already when Sony still struggled with their DualShock controllers.

What is that fighting game in the video? If you can control all physical aspects of the fighter that would be awesome... Especially online... I for one am very excited to see this 'move' in action. I have a wii, but their controller is nothing in comparison to what I've seen in the Sony videos.

And to the remarks of the dildo, the sad fact is, until I've seen user posted content on this forum I would NEVER have thought that, so thank you for your insight and maturity. I'm glad we are all so educated in dildonics.

**Note** I do not have the wii-motion plus, so perhaps it has gotten better.

See the thing is, I don't see anything stopping MS (or third parties) giving people a physical device they can hold to use with Natal if the game does require buttons. In fact I'm sort of surprised they haven't shown anything which would take care of those concerns gamers have who dont think certain games will work when using motion only.

Wow. To be TOTALLY Honest, I love the way sony does its commercial. Hate the "It only does everything" because in my mind a few other Playstation Owners, it DOESNT do everything like sony thinks its does.

But, with these commercials they proved they can do tasteful commercials but at the same time the "some gamers would like buttons" is bull****. Natal is aiming at motion specific gaming. I dont see ANYONE playing a shooter(more then just single player) with MOVE. I will definitely say I for one will use NATAL for racing(i drive a stick, so with how accurate microsoft says it will be, and if it is, ill be driving like i do in real life, for that im very excited), and the general "wii sports" games.

See, I have no problem saying I might just try move, but in no way am i gonna play shooting games with it. Maybe fighting, that highlight about feeling punches was cool, and im all for getting active and gaming, I cant sit too long and game anymore, my body doesnt like me if I do.

I, since day one of NATAL being surfaced to the public, or atleast neowin, i loved the idea. Nothing in my hands, play virtually. I love that idea. For me motion sensing was always that, no controls. I would gladly take that over MOVE, WII, anything. So its not my favoritism towards microsoft or the 360, its the fact that there idea IS ORIGINAL.

I also do think from a business perspective SONY just ****ED UP. Why? Because now the public will start watching these and be all interested and stir up talk, which will make microsoft see this and work HARDER and try to make NATAL as precise as possible. Im not saying it will be as precise as MOVE or the WII, but I do see them trying there BEST and HARDEST to make NATAL very well interesting for a lot of people.

Also, like stated in the OP, Just like sony to be arrogant and smug. NATAL was demoed based off sports and burnout, no where in there did I see microsoft demo a shooter. They honestly know better. If anything, this will force them into creating a controller to use JUST for shooters for NATAL. I can see this happening and I will laugh at sony if it does.

But, in the next few months + e3, hopefully we see more NATAL. I know soniqstylz had a hands on demo with move / was at GDC, so ill believe him about move. But he didnt say anything about NATAL so i dont know if it was announced or it was still not demo'able.

Either way, we all have to wait and see.

I like all three of the current generation game consoles and enjoy them a lot, but I must admit that this commercial is indeed funny. :D lol. The part about using your hands and pretending that they are guns like we are in kindergarten is the part that I liked most I think. :D

I thought the video was great, the shots they took were all pretty spot on though of course shots could be taken at Sony too. I have never been interested in a PS before. Skipped PS1 with N64 and had a Gamecube and Xbox last gen. With 360 and Wii on day one never felt a need for a PS3. Now seeing their exclusives and these Kevin Butler commercials has greatly perked my interest. How E3 pans out will greatly affect the console I take to college with me.

O and apple should take notes, this is how you can take shots at your competitor without looking like an *******(imo) and show case your product at the same time.

Same, I'm genuinely considering picking up a PS3 next month. These Kevin Butler ads have made me laugh out loud each time.

I'm guessing you haven't seen any footage of SOCOM 4 using the Move? It looks like the most promising title from the launch games by far. I'm sure plenty of others can see themselves playing it too.

Why bother playing it with Move? Watch

video at about 3 minutes. I don't see the fun in using motion controls on a game like this if it isn't that different than you just sitting there using a controller like normal. Why bother making it harder for yourself?

That was a great ad. Made me laugh for sure, and had a very valid point about Natal.

I think this will kill the Wii for sure. They will only be able to sell first party stuff after the Move and Natal come out. I would love to see how this works with Resident Evil 5 gold edition, I hear it supports the Move.

Yes! shooting mock pistols makes you look stupid unlike swinging a dildo to throw frags.
