majortom1981
I think its stupid to make fun of NIntendo when the move controller is practically the same thing. Actually sony lies about how the wii controller works. Games Dont have to use the infrared pointer. its an addition to. Something which i dont think the move controller has. Eddo89
Amusing. 360 fanatics getting insecure about Natal by attacking anything "move", or just call it a Dildo, the same thing they use to attack the Wii. And Sony fanatics biting back. We see what we want to see don't we? No buttons, I can jump, finger guns, Dildo with a ball. I mean, this is basically a circular argument, no one really responding each other's attack. I wouldn't say you necessarily want a controller for a shooter. Talk to anyone, they will say the mouse is a far superior controller for a FPS. Move is essentially mouse without a pad. Controllers you direct your crosshairs, mouse/move you actually "move" your crosshairs. It may be more difficult but ultimately you will be better. This is like driving wheels, you going to spin more times than you like at first. But you are not going to get better lap times with a controller. Move is very much an alternative controller. It probably can do what the DS3 can do, while DS3 can mostly do what it can do. It is very conservative but pretty much it enters straight into the battle with the Wii and you get a controller that can work for most games, even old ones, with this controller. Natal I still see as alternative experience. I'm not convinced of its practicality, even if this when all goes to plan, probably will appear much more amazing. But like most camera based controllers, I'm concerned if my motion is going to be tracked the way I want it and will it be overly difficulty. People say is playable on only games, but I'm entirely unconvinced. I rather have a controller because there is a template of where everything is. I mean in a shooter for natal, even if I'm to assume you use one hand for the gun, how am I going to reload or throw a grenade? Then, how can I be sure is going to detect my "grenade" gesture? At least with buttons, if you press it, you know it will be thrown if you need it in a pinch. And then there is the difficulty of issuing commands as you run about. Responsiveness and breathing room for response is my main issue. Natal will be successful in sales just from the hype. But I don't see it more than a novelty. Of course, if it is flawless, Natal will own everything else. As you cannot get a truer experience.

If you watch the rest of the series of adverts you'll notice they are all fairly tongue in cheek. I think you're just trying to find some hidden motive for them. Of course, if it is flawless, Natal will own everything else. As you cannot get a truer experience. You forget that Natal can also do motion tracking like Wiimote or Move. Microsoft even mentioned that some games might/can use/need additional controller for feedback etc. I personally never bought into Wii hype and still refuse to believe that it is more than a party console. Wii's sales prove that I am completely wrong from sales side of the things. Hype sales and in Wii's case mints money. Microsoft and Sony are trying to rope in casual Wii buyers who are typically (looking at 4/5 families I know) non-gamers and buy accessories for what seems like every freakin Wii game. Draken
ohh he failed to travel one more year into the future to see that horrendous thing failed miserably  Now being serious, pls Sony, deliver quality, you don't have to mock the competition if you have it ;) Edit: I better keep my mouth shut, or my fingers away or whatever ... Teebor
What happens if there is another object in the room that is the same colour as the light on the end of the controller? Is the camera tracking that or some other method?
Ironman273
What happens if there is another object in the room that is the same colour as the light on the end of the controller? Is the camera tracking that or some other method? The color of the ball will change. The camera will scan the room first and determine what the best color for the ball is. MikeChipshop Member Posted March 19, 2010 Member Share Posted March 19, 2010 I do think it's quite clever technology but not one person in sony is innocent enough to not have realised it looks like a frankly ridiculous light up dildo!

Ironman273
But that's the point isn't it. for those that don't care about the motion controllers, the regular controller is a far superior controller. but if a game is made for motion controllers, then MS' system is a far better one. Move is just en extension of the sixaxis, trying to make a regular controller with motion detection. At best it's Wii HD. While Natal actually makes use of it. and as in my example would for that type of game be far superior. I don't know why I didn't make the connection now, but this reminds of when the sixaxis was announced as the controller for the PS3. All those on the Sony side said it would revolutionize the game, how great it would be, how rumble was so last gen. Is Move the new Sixaxis? Is Natal the new Sixaxis? Wii was able to dodge that bullet.

Wii was able to dodge that bullet. Only because it was launched with the wiimote. Had it been added later it'd come under the same scrutiny no doubt. And it hasn't been without criticism anyway, it's plagued with games using "waggle" controls.
S00N3R FR3AK
It is amusing, isn't it? I bet Nintendo is sitting back laughing at this commercial. I doubt they have even seen it, to busy counting money.

soniqstylz
the PS3 players would stand there waving their sword, while the Natal player would jump around him, dodging striking, evading, having full control of the players skeleton as a mirror of his own. The best the Move player would be able to do would be some pre programmed evasion moves with the buttons... For full-body control, you'd have to stand pretty far back from the screen, and then how well does Natal track at that distance? I know that Move is only really good up to about 10 feet at the moment. At closer distance, Move does the same thing, will track head and upper body movements and match it to characters on the screen.

Hedon
Yes, because playing with dildos is so much fun! It is Zipper themselves have said they're having balancing issues because players testing using the Move are pwning DS3 players. With that lag, it's hard to imagine that.
